Instructions for use for Calcimed D3 600 mg / 400 IU effervescent tablets, 20 pcs
Calcimed® D3 600 mg / 400 IU effervescent tablets
Calcimed® D3 600 mg / 400 IU effervescent tablets are a calcium-vitamin D3 preparation that is used in cases of proven calcium and vitamin D3 deficiency and for the supportive treatment of osteoporosis. This preparation offers a high-quality combination of calcium and vitamin D3, which is particularly suitable for people with swallowing difficulties. It is taken twice a day and the effervescent tablets taste like lemon.
The intake of calcium and vitamin D3 is one of the most important basic measures for the treatment of osteoporosis.Vitamin D3 supports the active absorption of calcium from the intestine and its storage in the bones. The combined intake of these nutrients is significantly superior to mono-supplementation with vitamin D.Calcimed® D3 600 mg / 400 IU contains these nutrients in a combined form, so that just two effervescent tablets per day are enough to supply the body with 1,200 mg calcium and 800 IU vitamin D3.
No prescription is required for this product. All necessary treatment measures should be discussed with the doctor.
Active ingredients and ingredients
One effervescent tablet contains 1500 mg calcium carbonate, which corresponds to 600 mg calcium, and 10 micrograms colecalciferol, which corresponds to 400 IU vitamin D3.The preparation also contains the following excipients: alpha-tocopherol, malic acid, citric acid (anhydrous), maltodextrin, sodium ascorbate, sodium carbonate, sodium cyclamate, sodium hydrogen carbonate, saccharin sodium, sucrose, silicon dioxide, modified starch, medium-chain triglycerides and natural and nature-identical flavorings.
Area of application
Calcimed® D3 600 mg / 400 IU effervescent tablets are used for proven calcium and vitamin D3 deficiencies and for the supportive treatment of osteoporosis. The preparation contains sodium compounds, sucrose (sugar) and partially hydrogenated soybean oil.
Dosage
Adults take an effervescent tablet twice a day, one in the morning and one in the evening, corresponding to 1200 mg calcium and 800 IU vitamin D3 per day.It should be taken long-term and the duration depends on the doctor's instructions.
If you take more medicine than you should, this may cause nausea, vomiting, abnormal thirst, increased urination or constipation. If you suspect an overdose, you should contact your doctor immediately.
If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose, but stick to your dosage schedule.
Intake
The effervescent tablet is dissolved in a glass of water and drunk immediately. It can be taken with food or between meals.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to calcium carbonate, colecalciferol (vitamin D3) or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.Further contraindications are increased calcium content in the blood (hypercalcemia), increased calcium excretion in the urine (hypercalciuria), kidney limestones, tissue calcification of the kidneys (nephrocalcinosis), impaired kidney function (renal insufficiency), overactive parathyroid gland (primary hyperparathyroidism), vitamin D overdose, multiple bone marrow tumor (myeloma),Secondary tumors in the bone (bone metastases) and immobilization of limbs (immobilization).
Patient information
Take special care when taking it if you suffer from impaired kidney function. In this case, serum and urine calcium levels should be checked.Additional intake of calcium and vitamin D may only be taken under medical supervision, including weekly checking of serum and urine calcium levels. In patients suffering from sarcoidosis, the drug should be used with caution due to the risk of increased conversion of vitamin D to its active form.Blood and urine calcium levels should be monitored in these patients.
No special precautions are required when driving or using machines.
Pregnancy
During pregnancy, a daily intake of 500 IU of vitamin D should not be exceeded. Therefore, no more than one effervescent tablet (400 IU vitamin D) may be taken daily. To date, no risks are known in the specified dose range.Long-term overdoses of vitamin D must be prevented during pregnancy, as the resulting hypercalcemia can lead to physical and mental disability as well as congenital heart and eye diseases in the child.
Vitamin D and its metabolites pass into breast milk.An overdose in infants caused in this way has not been observed.Calcium passes into breast milk in small amounts without having a detrimental effect on the child.
