Mode of action

The Aspirin® tablet provides quick and tolerable pain relief.The active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid (ASS), which is contained in all Aspirin® products, is responsible for this.

Acetylsalicylic acid is a non-opioid painkiller as well as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and inhibits the formation of so-called prostaglandins (the body's own messenger substances).These messenger substances are involved in the transmission and perception of pain in the brain; they ensure increased sensitivity of the pain receptors in the body.Acetylsalicylic acid reduces the production of prostaglandins, which reduces the excitability of the pain receptors and so the pain subsides.

Contraindications

Under certain conditions, the Aspirin® 500mg tablet may not be used. This is the case, for example, if you are hypersensitive to the active ingredient it contains.Please refer to the package leaflet to find out what other contraindications there are and further information.

Hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid, other salicylates or any of the other ingredients of aspirin;if you have had a history of asthma attacks or other allergic reactions to salicylates or similar medicines (especially other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) (e.g. urticaria, angioedema, severe rhinitis, shock);active peptic ulcer;hemorrhagic diathesis;severe liver or kidney failure;severe, uncontrolled heart failure;Combination with methotrexate more than 20 mg per week;concurrent treatment with oral anticoagulants;from the 6th month of pregnancy.

Dosage

Recommended use of Aspirin® 500mg:

The aspirin tablet has a special film coating that ensures a particularly smooth surface, making it easier to swallow.Take the tablet with plenty of liquid - preferably water.

The aspirin tablet is suitable for adults and teenagers aged 12 and over (body weight from 40 kg).Depending on age, the following recommended dosage information results:

Adolescents between 12 and 15 years (body weight 40 to 50 kg): single dose 1 tablet;Total daily dose 6 tablets

Adults and adolescents (16 years and older): Single dose 1 tablet;Total daily dose 6 tablets

Elderly patients (65 years and older): Single dose 1 tablet;Total daily dose 4 tablets

If necessary, the single dose can be repeated (in all age groups) at least 4 hours apart.However, the total daily dose must not be exceeded.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you are being treated with other products containing acetylsalicylic acid to avoid an overdose.

If you have taken high doses of acetylsalicylic acid for a long time and experience headaches during this treatment;Do not increase the dose, but seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist.

If you use painkillers regularly, especially if you combine several painkillers at the same time;this can lead to impaired kidney function.

If you suffer from G6PD deficiency (decrease in the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase);In this hereditary disease that affects red blood cells, higher doses of acetylsalicylic acid can lead to the destruction of red blood cells (hemolysis).

If you have ever had a stomach or intestinal ulcer, stomach or intestinal bleeding or inflammation of the stomach lining (gastritis).

If your kidney or liver function is impaired.

If you have asthma;In some patients, the occurrence of asthma attacks may be due to allergic reactions to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or to acetylsalicylic acid.In this case, the use of this medicine is not recommended.

If you have heavy menstrual bleeding.

If bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract occurs during treatment (vomiting blood, blood in the stool, black coloring of the stool);In this case, you must stop treatment and call your doctor or emergency medical services immediately.

If you are also taking medicines that thin the blood and prevent blood from clotting (anticoagulants).

Even in small doses, acetylsalicylic acid increases the risk of bleeding.This also applies if it was taken several days ago.Inform your doctor, surgeon, anesthesiologist or dentist if a surgical procedure is planned;this also applies to small operations.

Acetylsalicylic acid changes the concentration of uric acid in the blood;this must be taken into account when taking medicines for gout.

The use of this medicine is not recommended during breastfeeding.

Reye's syndrome (a rare but very serious disease that mainly causes neurological and liver damage) has been observed in children with viral diseases treated with acetylsalicylic acid.Therefore: acetylsalicylic acid is not allowed in children with a viral illness such as:B. flu or chickenpox can only be used after prior consultation with a doctor;The doctor must be informed immediately if dizziness or fainting, unusual behavior or vomiting is observed in a child who has received acetylsalicylic acid.

Acetylsalicylic acid has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

During the first five months of pregnancy, you should only use this medicine or any other product containing acetylsalicylic acid after consulting your doctor.From the beginning of the 6th month of pregnancy (if it has been more than 24 weeks since your last menstrual period), you must under no circumstances use this medicine as this may cause serious harm to you or your child.

If you have taken this medicine during pregnancy, contact your doctor immediately.

This medicine may pass into breast milk.As a precautionary measure, use is not recommended during breastfeeding.

This product belongs to a group of medicines that may affect a woman's ability to become pregnant.This effect disappears after the drug is stopped.
