Osteoplus 1000 mg/1000 International Units is a calcium and vitamin D3 preparation used for the supportive treatment of osteoporosis and in cases of confirmed calcium and vitamin D3 deficiency.No prescription is required for this product.

Active substances and ingredients

The effervescent tablets contain 2500 mg of calcium carbonate, equivalent to 1000 mg of calcium ions.They also contain 0.025 mg of colecalciferol (equivalent to 1000 International Units of vitamin D3).Excipients include alpha-tocopherol, citric acid (anhydrous), gelatin, lactose monohydrate, maize starch, methylcellulose, sodium hydrogen carbonate, povidone, saccharin sodium, sucrose, simeticone, and soybean oil.Natural and nature-identical flavoring agents are also present.

Therapeutic indications

This preparation is used for the supportive treatment of osteoporosis and in cases of confirmed calcium and vitamin D3 deficiency.

Contraindications

Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to calcium carbonate, colecalciferol (vitamin D3), or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.It must also not be used in cases of conditions resulting in elevated calcium levels in the blood or increased calcium excretion in the urine, kidney stones, or vitamin D overdose.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described or as advised by your doctor or pharmacist.The usual dose for adults, including the elderly, is one effervescent tablet once daily, equivalent to 1000 mg of calcium and 1000 international units of vitamin D3.No dose adjustment is required for patients with hepatic impairment.Patients with severe renal impairment must not take this medicine.The duration of treatment is determined by the physician.

If you have taken more of the medicine than you should, nausea, vomiting, excessive thirst, or constipation may occur.If an overdose is suspected, contact your doctor immediately.If you miss a dose, do not take a double dose;simply continue treatment as usual the next day.If you wish to interrupt or stop treatment, please consult your doctor first.

Administration

Dissolve the effervescent tablet in a glass of water and drink it immediately.

Information for patients

Please consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this product, especially if you intend to use it for an extended period.Blood calcium levels and renal function should be monitored regularly, particularly in elderly patients and those concomitantly taking cardiac glycosides or diuretics.Patients with renal impairment should use vitamin D with caution and under monitoring of calcium and phosphate levels.The effervescent tablets should be prescribed with caution to patients with sarcoidosis or immobilization osteoporosis.The dosage should be taken into account if other vitamin D preparations are used concomitantly.This medicine is not intended for use in children.There is no data regarding the effect of this medicine on the ability to drive or use machines, but an effect is unlikely.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.This medicine should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to the high dose of vitamin D. Vitamin D overdose must be avoided during pregnancy, as prolonged high calcium levels in the blood can lead to physical malformations and intellectual disability in the child.Small amounts of calcium pass into breast milk without having a negative effect on the child.
