Description of the product

Osteoplus 1000mg/1000 international units is a preparation that contains calcium and vitamin D3.It is used to support osteoporosis and for proven deficiencies of calcium and vitamin D3.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

This preparation contains 2500 mg of calcium carbonate, which corresponds to 1000 mg of calcium ions.It also contains 0.025 mg colecalciferol, i.e. 1000 international units of vitamin D3.The excipients included are alpha-tocopherol, anhydrous citric acid, gelatin, lactose-1-water, corn starch, methylcellulose, sodium bicarbonate, povidone, sodium saccharin, sucrose, simeticone, soybean oil and 77.7 mg of sodium ions.There are also natural and nature-identical flavorings available.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are allergic to calcium carbonate, colecalciferol or any of the other ingredients.It must also not be taken if you have illnesses that lead to an increased calcium content in the blood or increased calcium excretion in the urine.The same applies to kidney stones and a vitamin D overdose.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.The usual dose for adults, including the elderly, is one effervescent tablet once daily.No dosage adjustment is necessary in cases of liver dysfunction.Patients with severe kidney dysfunction should not take the medicine.The duration of use is determined by the doctor.

If you take more than you should, you may experience nausea, vomiting, thirst or constipation.If you suspect an overdose, you should contact your doctor immediately.If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose.Simply continue taking it the next day.If you want to stop the treatment, please talk to your doctor first.

Intake

The effervescent tablet is dissolved in a glass of water and drunk immediately.

Patient information

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the product, especially if you are using it for a long time.Blood calcium levels and kidney function should be monitored regularly.This is particularly important for older patients and those who are also taking heart medications or diuretics.Patients with renal impairment should use vitamin D cautiously and with monitoring of calcium and phosphate levels.The effervescent tablets should only be prescribed with caution to patients with sarcoidosis or immobilization osteoporosis.

This medicine is not intended for children.There are no data on the influence on the ability to drive, but an influence is unlikely.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Due to the high dosage of vitamin D, the medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.Overdoses of vitamin D should be avoided as they can lead to physical deformities and mental retardation in the child.Calcium passes into breast milk in small amounts without having a negative effect on the child.
