Instructions for use for Dimet® 20 solution, 100 ml
Dimet® 20 solution
Dimet® 20 is a solution containing dimeticone (silicone oil) and dodecanol for the treatment of head lice infestations. It works quickly and reliably against lice and nits, stops their further transmission and relieves the annoying itchy head.No prescription is required for this product.
Mode of action
The effect of Dimet® 20 is based on a double mechanism that has a purely physical effect on the lice and their eggs and is therefore very well tolerated. The active ingredient dimeticone coats the head louse, penetrates its breathing opening and suffocates it, while dodecanol attacks the head louse's shell.
Area of application
Dimet® 20 is a physically active solution for treating scalp hair in cases of head lice infestation. When used correctly, it gently kills head lice and their eggs.Due to the physical mode of action, development of resistance to Dimet® 20 is not possible based on current knowledge.
Ingredients
Dimet® 20 contains dimeticone, dodecanol, isopropanol and perfume oil.The solution is free of preservatives and dyes, soap-free and pH-neutral and is particularly suitable for children due to its mild composition.
Contraindications
If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, this product should not be used.It must not be used in children under 6 months of age due to limited experience to date.
Application
Dimet® 20 is used on dry hair and only needs to be left on for 20 minutes before it is washed out with shampoo after combing out with a nit comb. One bottle is enough for two uses, even for longer hair.Dimet® 20 can be used in children from the age of 6 months.
The amount required depends on the thickness and length of the hair. For short to medium-length hair, 10-25 ml is usually sufficient for one application; for longer hair, around 25-50 ml is needed.Accordingly, one bottle of Dimet® 20 (100 ml) is sufficient for several applications.
Application recommendation
1. Place a light-colored towel around your shoulders.
2. Apply the solution gradually to dry hair in small amounts and massage the solution thoroughly into the hair.Moisten all hair well down to the scalp.Do not leave any area untreated as lice prefer to live near the scalp. In particular, soak the hair in the neck area and behind the ears well.Saturate longer hair from the roots to the ends with the solution, strand by strand, to ensure that all lice and lice eggs come into contact with the solution and the treatment can be successful.
3. If necessary, comb out excess solution with a regular comb.Be careful not to get the solution in your eyes.
4. Leave the solution on your hair for 20 minutes.Do not allow the exposure time to be shorter than this, otherwise you will endanger the success of the treatment.
5. Then comb the hair carefully, strand by strand, using a suitable lice or nit comb with sturdy metal teeth.Be particularly careful when removing dark-colored eggs near the scalp, as they may still contain viable larvae.
6. Wash the hair with a commercially available shampoo. If necessary, wash twice to completely remove the solution from the hair.Be sure to use a fresh towel to dry off.
7. On day 8, 9 or 10, repeat the drug treatment as described above. The second application helps to ensure the success of the treatment. In the period between treatments, "new" lice may hatch if eggs were not detected during the first treatment.

Tips for everyday life
Head lice have adapted so perfectly to humans that they would not survive on animals. Therefore, animals pose no risk of infection. It doesn't have to be exaggerated, but it will help you and your child feel better. So wash your pajamas, bed linen, the clothing worn during the treatment and the towels used once at 60 °C.No louse would survive this temperature in the washing machine.Items of laundry that cannot be washed at this temperature can also be put in a plastic bag for three days to starve out possible lice.
