Infectopedicul solution + nit comb, 100 ml

Instructions for use for Infectopedicul solution + nit comb, 100 ml

Area of application

The medicine is a solution for the one-time external treatment of the hair in the event of an infestation with head lice (Pediculus capitis). The active ingredient of the preparation is permethrin, which belongs to the pyrethrin group of active ingredients.Pyrethrins are anti-parasitic agents.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

The preparation contains 430 mg of permethrin as an active ingredient. The excipients are ethanol 96% (V/V), isopropyl alcohol, sodium dihydrogen phosphate 2-water, propylene glycol and purified water.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are allergic to permethrin, other pyrethrins or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.

Dosage

Always use the medicine exactly as directed. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.As a rule, a single application of the drug is sufficient. For treatment, the hair must be thoroughly soaked in the solution. The amount required depends on the thickness of the hair: For short hair, around 25 ml is sufficient, for longer hair around 50 ml is required, for very long and thick hair even more (up to 150 ml for adults and children aged 4 and over).

Children up to 3 years: Do not use more than 25 ml in children after the age of 2 months until the age of 3 years.

If the instructions for use are followed, treatment success is usually achieved with just a single application. However, if the infestation persists or recurs, the treatment must be repeated after 8 to 10 days.In persistent epidemics, it is often necessary to treat all members of a community (school class, kindergarten group) at the same time, even if not all members have symptoms.

If infested with other body lice, the affected hair and body areas should be treated in the same way. Please note the precautionary measures. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the medicine is too strong or too weak.

If you have used a larger amount of the medicine than you should: When used externally, there is no risk of overdose symptoms caused by the active ingredient permethrin. The medicine is not suitable for whole-body use, otherwise symptoms of poisoning may occur, especially in small children. After accidental or intentional ingestion, you should consult a doctor as soon as possible to decide what to do next.

If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, contact your doctor or pharmacy.

Application

Before using the product, wash your hair with shampoo but without conditioner and towel dry.Place a fresh, light-colored towel over your shoulders. This will help you better identify any lice that might fall off your head.Massage the product evenly into hair that is still slightly damp.Make sure that the hair near the scalp is particularly well wetted with the product, as this is where most lice and lice eggs are found.Long and particularly thick hair should be separated and treated in strands.

Only use the medicine undiluted and not with shampoo, soap or other care products.Leave the medicine on the uncovered hair for 30 - 45 minutes;then wash it out with clear, warm water.

Before drying the hair, any resistant lice eggs stuck to the hair should be combed out. This requires the use of a special lice comb. Then dry your hair with a fresh (!) towel.

To ensure full effectiveness, the hair must not be washed with hair wash (shampoo) for at least the first three days after using the drug (rinsing with water is permitted). As a result, the active ingredient remains on the hair and kills any lice that hatch from the eggs even after treatment, or the egg contents are severely damaged.

Checks for any recurrence of head lice infestations should be carried out as often as possible, but at least on the 5th day of treatment.Head and body lice are easily transmitted from person to person, so checking all contact persons in the family area and in kindergarten/school is strongly recommended.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the medicine, when treating infants: see below in the section “Children up to 3 years” if you are known to be allergic to chrysanthemums or other composite plants. In this case, you should only use this medicine after consulting your doctor.
