Area of application

InfectoPedicul is a solution for the one-time external treatment of the hair in the event of an infestation with head lice (Pediculus capitis).The active ingredient permethrin belongs to the group of pyrethrins, which act against parasites.No prescription is required for this product.

InfectoPedicul contains 430 mg permethrin per 100 ml as active ingredient.The other ingredients are ethanol 96%, isopropanol, propylene glycol, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate and purified water.The solution contains approximately 39% ethanol (alcohol) by volume.Propylene glycol can cause skin irritation.

Contraindications

InfectoPedicul must not be used if you are allergic to permethrin, other pyrethrins or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.This medicine should not be used in babies in the first two months of life unless your doctor advises you to do so.There is insufficient experience with infants and small children.Treatment of children under three years of age should only be carried out under close medical supervision.

Dosage

Always use InfectoPedicul exactly as described or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.As a rule, a single application is sufficient.The amount required depends on the thickness of the hair: For short hair, around 25 ml is sufficient, for longer hair around 50 ml is required, for very long and thick hair even more (up to 150 ml for adults and children aged four and over).Children up to three years of age should not receive more than 25 ml.

Intake

Before use, wash your hair with shampoo but no conditioner and towel dry.Place a fresh, light-colored towel over your shoulders.Massage InfectoPedicul evenly into hair that is still slightly damp, making sure the hair near the scalp is particularly well wetted.Long and thick hair should be treated in sections.Leave the solution on the uncovered hair for 30-45 minutes and then wash it out with clean, warm water.Before drying, the hair should be combed out with a special lice comb.The hair should not be washed with shampoo for at least the first three days after use.

Patient information

Treatment should only be carried out if lice eggs or live lice are detected.InfectoPedicul is for external use only and must not be swallowed.Due to the alcohol content, the solution is flammable and may cause irritation if it comes into contact with eyes, mucous membranes or open wounds.Be careful not to let the solution come into contact with these areas.In case of accidental contact, rinse thoroughly with water.The medicine may worsen the symptoms of asthma or skin inflammation.InfectoPedicul is harmful to insects and aquatic creatures, so it should not be used in aquariums and terrariums.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Expanded experience with the use of permethrin in pregnant women has shown no evidence of adverse health effects.As a precautionary measure, you should only use InfectoPedicul during pregnancy as directed by your doctor.Permethrin can pass into breast milk.For precautionary reasons, you should take a break from breastfeeding for three days after use.

Other

If the solution is used as intended, the eggs (nits) and larvae of the lice are also successfully combated and the development cycle of the lice is interrupted.Checks for any recurrence of head lice infestations should be carried out at least once a week.Preventative treatment with the drug cannot reliably prevent lice infestation and is therefore not advisable.In the case of persistent infestations, treating all members of a community at the same time is often successful, even if not all members show signs.
