Diclofenac PUREN Gel is a painkiller with the active ingredient diclofenac, which belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs/analgesics.It is used for the external, supportive treatment of pain in acute strains, sprains or bruises in the extremity area caused by blunt trauma, such as sports injuries.

The gel contains 10 mg of diclofenac sodium salt, which is equivalent to 9.3 mg of diclofenac.The following excipients are also included: hypromellose, isopropyl alcohol, macrogol 7 glycerol cocoate, 250 mg propylene glycol and purified water.

Area of application

Diclofenac PUREN Gel is used for the external, supportive symptomatic treatment of pain in acute strains, sprains or bruises in the extremities.This pain can be caused by blunt trauma, such as sports injuries.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be used if you are allergic to diclofenac or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The gel should also not be used if you have breathing problems such as asthma or bronchospasm, skin reactions such as hives, runny nose or swelling of the face or tongue after taking acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.It must also not be used on open injuries, inflammations or infections of the skin, as well as on eczema or mucous membranes.Children and adolescents under 14 years of age should not use the gel, nor should it be used in the last three months of pregnancy.

Dosage

The recommended dose for adults and adolescents aged 14 years and over is a cherry to walnut-sized amount of gel, equivalent to 1 to 4 g (10 to 40 mg diclofenac sodium), applied 3 to 4 times daily.The maximum total daily dose is 12 g gel, equivalent to 120 mg diclofenac sodium.As a rule, one application over 1 to 2 weeks is sufficient.If symptoms persist or worsen after 3 to 5 days, you should consult a doctor.The gel should not be used for longer than 7 days without consulting a doctor.

Elderly patients do not require any special dosage adjustment but should monitor for side effects.No dose reduction is necessary if kidney or liver function is impaired.There are no sufficient data on effectiveness and tolerability for children and adolescents under 14 years of age.

Intake

The gel is intended for use on the skin only and must not be ingested.It is applied thinly to the affected area of the body and rubbed lightly into the skin.Hands should then be washed unless they are the area to be treated.If too much gel has been applied, the excess gel should be wiped off with a paper towel and the paper towel disposed of in the trash.Before applying a bandage, the gel should dry on the skin for a few minutes.

Patient information

If the gel is used over a large area and for a long time, side effects may occur, which are also possible when taking other medicines containing diclofenac.The gel may only be applied to intact, not diseased or injured skin and must not come into contact with the eyes or mucous membranes.In case of contact with eyes, they should be rinsed carefully with water.No occlusive dressing may be used.Patients with asthma, hay fever or other chronic respiratory diseases should only use the gel under medical supervision.If a skin rash occurs, treatment should be discontinued.Sensitivity to light may occur during treatment.Children should not come into contact with rubbed areas of skin.

The medicine has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.The gel must not be used in the last three months of pregnancy.During the first six months of pregnancy it should only be used after consulting a doctor.Diclofenac passes into breast milk in small quantities, so the gel should only be used during breastfeeding after consulting a doctor.
