Instructions for use for FENISTIL Drops, 3X20 ml
Fenistil drops are a medicine containing the active substance dimetinden maleate. It belongs to a group of medicines known as antihistamines, which are used to relieve allergy symptoms such as itching, rash, hay fever and allergic rhinitis. The drops work by inhibiting the action of histamine, a substance that is released during allergic reactions. The indications for use of Fenistil drops include symptomatic relief of histamine-induced itching, itching associated with chickenpox in young children, allergic rhinitis in patients over 6 years of age, hives (urticaria) and insect bites. The dosage of Fenistil drops depends on several factors. Children aged 1 to 11 years should take 5 to 32 drops 3 times a day, depending on their body weight. Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults should take 20-40 drops 3 times a day. The drops should be taken independently of meals and should not be used for more than 14 days without medical advice. There are some contraindications to the use of Fenistil drops, including hypersensitivity to the active substance or other ingredients of the medicine, increased intraocular pressure (glaucoma) and prostate enlargement. The medicine should not be used in infants under 1 year of age, and in children under 6 years of age it should only be used for specific indications. In pregnancy, it is recommended to consult a doctor before using the medicine and it is not recommended to use it during breastfeeding. Side effects of Fenistil drops may include tiredness, drowsiness and nervousness. Less common side effects may also occur, such as agitation, headache, dizziness, gastrointestinal discomfort and dry mouth. If there are signs of an allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or severe itching, stop taking the drops immediately and consult a doctor. Fenistil drops should be stored out of the reach of children and at room temperature below 25°C. The solution has a shelf life of 6 months after opening the bottle. This summary is based on the information in the Fenistil Drops leaflet and does not contain repeated information.Medicines Reviews
