Aescusan® retard
Aescusan® retard is a herbal venous agent that contains the active ingredient of horse chestnut.It is used to treat symptoms of diseases of the leg veins, also known as chronic venous insufficiency.Typical symptoms include swollen legs, varicose veins, a feeling of heaviness and tension, pain, itching, tiredness in the legs and leg cramps.
No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients and ingredients
Each extended-release tablet contains 178.5 to 263.2 milligrams of horse chestnut seed dry extract extracted with ethanol 50% (m/m).This corresponds to 50 milligrams of aescin and 21 milligrams of protoaescigenin.In addition, the preparation contains various excipients such as calcium hydrogen phosphate, crospovidone, Dimeticon 350, highly disperse silicon dioxide, sorbic acid, polyethylene glycol (5) stearyl ether, macrogol 4000, magnesium stearate (vegetable), hypromellose, ammonium methacrylate copolymer (type A), ammonium methacrylate copolymer (type B), sodium hydroxide, polysorbate 80,Povidone K25, saccharin sodium, talc, triethyl citrate, vanillin, titanium dioxide, iron (III) oxide and black iron (III) oxide hydrate.
Area of application
Aescusan® retard is used to treat symptoms of diseases of the leg veins.These can manifest themselves as swollen legs, varicose veins, a feeling of heaviness and tension, pain, itching, tiredness in the legs and leg cramps.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be taken by patients with known hypersensitivity to horse chestnut seeds or any of the other ingredients.
Dosage
Always take the medicine exactly as directed.Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.The usual dose is 1 prolonged-release tablet twice a day.No dosage adjustment is necessary in patients with impaired renal function.There are no sufficient data to provide specific dosage recommendations for impaired liver function.Due to the area of application, it is not intended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
Initial treatment success may only occur after a treatment period of 4 weeks.Long-term treatment is possible after consulting a doctor.
Intake
The prolonged-release tablets are taken whole in the morning and evening before meals with a little liquid.
Patient information
Particular caution is required when taking it if there is inflammation of the skin, superficial inflammation of the veins or hardening of the subcutaneous tissue, severe pain, skin ulcers, sudden swelling of one or both legs and if the function of the heart or kidneys is impaired.In these cases, a doctor should be consulted.
Taking it does not replace other preventative measures or treatment measures such as:B. cold water or wearing medically prescribed support stockings.
There are no sufficient studies on the effect on the ability to drive and operate machines.
Pregnancy
The medicine must not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding as there are no sufficient studies.
