The herbal medicinal product Bomacorin 450 mg Hawthorn Tablets is used to treat heart failure corresponding to stage II of NYHA (New York Heart Association). It contains a dry extract of hawthorn leaves with flowers as the active substance. It is used in the form of film-coated tablets that are taken unchewed with sufficient liquid. The recommended dosage for adults and adolescents from 12 years of age is one film-coated tablet twice daily. The duration of treatment should be at least 6 weeks and at most 6 months, with the attending physician determining the exact duration. Accidental overdose does not usually have any negative consequences, whereas significant overdose may cause increased side effects. It should not be taken in cases of known hypersensitivity to the ingredients or in children under 12 years of age. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should also not take the medicine. Side effects are rare and may include gastrointestinal discomfort, feeling weak or skin rash. If side effects persist, the medicine should be discontinued and a doctor consulted.
