The medicine Pantoprazole axicur 20 mg is intended for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms such as heartburn and acid regurgitation in adults. The active ingredient pantoprazole blocks the production of stomach acid and thus reduces the amount of acid in the stomach. It can provide relief from symptoms after just one day of treatment, but should not provide immediate relief. The recommended dose is one tablet per day, taken at the same time before a meal. The duration of treatment should not exceed two to three consecutive days, unless a doctor recommends otherwise. If no improvement in symptoms is noted after two weeks, a doctor should be consulted. The medicine contains the active substance pantoprazole and other ingredients such as maltitol and deoiled phospholipids from soya beans. There are some contraindications to its use, e.g. allergies to pantoprazole or atazanavir. The exact dosage and instructions for use should be discussed with a doctor or pharmacist. Side effects may occur, such as gastrointestinal complaints, dry mouth, headache, and skin reactions. In case of overdose, a doctor should be contacted.
