Pantoprazole axicur® 20 mg tablets: The proven active ingredient for heartburn
Pantoprazole axicur® 20 mg is a medicine that contains the active ingredient pantoprazole.This blocks a type of pump that is responsible for producing stomach acid, reducing the amount of acid in the stomach.The product is suitable for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms such as heartburn and acid reflux in adults.Reflux refers to the backflow of stomach acid into the esophagus, which can lead to painful inflammation.Typical symptoms include a burning sensation in the chest that travels up to the throat and a sour taste in the mouth.
No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients and ingredients
Each tablet contains 20 mg of pantoprazole as the active ingredient.The following excipients are also included: 22.56 mg pantoprazole sodium 1.5 water, 0.174 mg 3-sn-phosphatidylcholine, calcium stearate, carmellose, sodium salt, crospovidone, iron (III) hydroxide oxide x-water, Eudragit L 100 - 55, macrogol 3350, 38,425 mg maltitol, sodium carbonate,Poly(vinyl alcohol), talc, titanium dioxide and triethyl citrate.
Area of application
Pantoprazole axicur® 20 mg is used for the short-term relief of reflux symptoms such as heartburn and acid regurgitation in adults.The symptoms can be alleviated after just one day of treatment, although relief does not have to be immediate.It may be necessary to take the tablets over 2 to 3 consecutive days.If symptoms do not improve after 2 weeks or even worsen, a doctor should be consulted.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to pantoprazole or any of the other ingredients.It is also not suitable if a medicine containing the active ingredient atazanavir (to treat an HIV-infection) is taken at the same time.
Dosage
The recommended dose is one tablet daily, which should not be exceeded.The tablet should be swallowed whole with a little water at the same time every day before a meal.Treatment should be continued for at least 2 to 3 days until symptoms have completely disappeared.It should not be taken for longer than 4 weeks without consulting a doctor.If there is no improvement after 2 weeks of continuous use, a doctor should be consulted.
If a larger amount than recommended has been taken, a doctor or pharmacy should be contacted immediately.If you forget to take a dose, you should not take a double dose, but simply return to the next scheduled dose time.
Intake
The tablet should be taken at the same time every day before a meal.It must be swallowed whole with a little water and must not be bitten or broken.
Patient information
Before taking the medicine you should consult a doctor if treatment of heartburn or indigestion has been necessary for a period of 4 weeks or longer, if you are over 55 years old and treat indigestion daily with non-prescription medicines, if you are over 55 years old and are experiencing new or recently changed reflux symptoms, if you have had a peptic ulcer or stomach operation in the past, if you have liver problems or jaundice, if you are suffering from severe or serious symptomsmedical conditions, see a doctor regularly or if an endoscopy or a 13C-urea breath test is planned.
Tell a doctor immediately if any of the following symptoms occur: unintentional weight loss, vomiting (especially repeated), vomiting blood, blood in stools, difficulty swallowing or pain when swallowing, paleness and weakness, chest pain, stomach pain, or severe and/or persistent diarrhea.
The medicine should not be taken by children and adolescents under 18 years of age as there is insufficient safety information for this age group.
If side effects such as dizziness or visual disturbances occur, you should not drive or operate machines.
Pregnancy
The medicine should not be taken if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, you should consult a doctor or pharmacy before taking.
Notes
The medicine contains maltitol and deoiled phospholipids from soybeans.It should not be used after the expiry date stated on the package. The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
