Loratadine axicur® 10 mg tablets

The active ingredient loratadine helps with allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose and burning eyes caused by hay fever.The tablets can also be used to relieve symptoms of hives such as itching, redness of the skin and hives.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

This medicine belongs to the group of antihistamines and is used to treat allergic diseases that are accompanied by increased histamine release.It is used for allergic rhinitis, such as hay fever, as well as for chronic, idiopathic urticaria (hives of unknown cause).

Each tablet contains 10 mg of loratadine as the active ingredient.The following excipients are also included: 71.3 mg lactose-1-water, magnesium stearate and corn starch.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to loratadine or any of the other ingredients.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.If you are unsure, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.

The usual dose for adults and children over 12 years of age and for children aged 2 to 12 years with a body weight of over 30 kg is one tablet once a day (equivalent to 10 mg of loratadine).

The tablet in the dosage strength of 10 mg is not suitable for children aged 2 to 12 years with a body weight of 30 kg or less.The effectiveness and safety of the drug in children under 2 years of age have not been established.

For patients with severe liver damage, an initial dose of one tablet every other day is recommended.No dosage adjustment is necessary in elderly patients or in patients with renal insufficiency.

If you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Overdose may cause drowsiness, rapid heartbeat and headache.If you have taken too many tablets, please contact your doctor or pharmacy immediately.In the event of an overdose, supportive treatment should be initiated that is tailored to the symptoms.

Do not take a double dose if you forget to take a dose.Take the missed tablet as soon as possible and then continue as recommended.

Intake

The tablet can be taken without regard to meals.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking it if you suffer from severe liver impairment.If you plan to have a skin test, you should stop using the medicine at least 48 hours beforehand.

In very rare cases, dizziness may occur, which may affect the ability to drive or use machines.It is advisable to wait for your individual reaction to taking the medicine before driving or operating machines.

Pregnancy

No teratogenic effects of loratadine were found in animal studies.The safety of using loratadine during pregnancy has not been established.It is therefore not recommended to use the drug during pregnancy.

Since loratadine passes into breast milk, it is not recommended to be used during breastfeeding.

Notes

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
