Area of application

This medicine belongs to the group of antihistamines and is used to treat allergic diseases associated with increased histamine release.It helps with allergic rhinitis, such as hay fever, and chronic idiopathic urticaria, also known as hives of unknown cause.

Each tablet contains 10 mg of loratadine as the active ingredient.The other ingredients include 71.3 mg lactose 1-water as an excipient, magnesium stearate and corn starch.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive or allergic to loratadine or any of the other ingredients.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.If you are unsure, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.

The usual dose for adults and children over 12 years of age is one tablet once daily, equivalent to 10 mg of loratadine.Children aged 2 to 12 years who weigh more than 30 kg can also take one tablet once a day.The tablet with a dosage strength of 10 mg is not suitable for children with a body weight of 30 kg or less.

Patients with severe liver damage are recommended to take an initial dose of one tablet every other day.No dosage adjustment is necessary in elderly patients or in patients with renal insufficiency.

If you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Overdose may cause drowsiness, rapid heartbeat and headache.In this case, you should contact your doctor or pharmacy immediately.Supportive treatment tailored to the symptoms should be initiated immediately and continued for as long as necessary.

If you forget to take a tablet, take it as soon as possible and then continue as recommended.Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

Intake

The tablet can be taken without regard to meals.

Patient information

Take special care when taking it if you suffer from severe liver impairment.If you plan to have a skin test, the use of the medication should be discontinued at least 48 hours before the test, as antihistamines can prevent or weaken positive reactions to the skin test.

The effectiveness and safety of the drug in children under 2 years of age have not been established.

In very rare cases, dizziness may occur, which may affect the ability to drive or use machines.It is advisable to wait for your individual reaction to taking the medicine before driving or using machines.

Pregnancy

No teratogenic effects of loratadine were found in animal studies.The safety of using loratadine during pregnancy has not been established, therefore its use during pregnancy is not recommended.Since loratadine passes into breast milk, it is not recommended to be used during breastfeeding.
