Ferro AIWA® 100 mg film-coated tablets are used to treat iron deficiency conditions.The product is available without a prescription.The active ingredient is dried iron (II) sulfate.The film-coated tablets are suitable for oral use and are specially designed for adults.

One film-coated tablet contains 100 mg iron as iron (II) sulfate.The preparation also contains the following excipients: maltodextrin, calcium stearate (Ph.Eur.), lactose monohydrate, copovidone, macrogol 4000, talc, calcium carbonate E 170, cocoa butter, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.) [pflanzlich], shellac (bleached, wax-free), titanium dioxide E171, cellulose powder, corn starch, carboxymethyl starch sodium (typeA) (Ph. Eur.), sodium dodecyl sulfate, sucrose, povidone K25, iron oxides and hydroxides (E172).

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to ferrous sulfate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The product should also not be used in cases of anemia caused by infections or cancer and without a simultaneous iron deficiency.Its use is also contraindicated if there is an accumulation of iron in the blood or iron utilization disorders.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.Adults take 1 film-coated tablet twice a day.It is not intended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.The amount of iron to be supplied to the body depends on the stage of iron deficiency.There is no sufficient data on dosage for people suffering from kidney or liver disease.

The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of the disease.In principle, iron therapy is required for a period of at least 8 weeks in order to achieve therapeutic success.After the blood values (hemoglobin) have normalized, treatment should be continued for another 6 - 8 weeks to replenish the iron reserves.

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of this medicine is too strong or too weak.If you take more than you should, tell your doctor.Forgotten income should not be compensated for by doubling the number of film-coated tablets.Do not stop taking it without consulting your doctor or pharmacist.

Intake

The film-coated tablets should be taken whole in the morning on an empty stomach or 1 hour before meals with sufficient liquid to prevent possible damage to the mucous membrane caused by stuck tablets.Swallow the tablet whole with water.Do not suck, chew or keep the tablet in your mouth.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.Due to the risk of mouth ulcers and tooth discoloration, the tablets should not be sucked, chewed, or left in the mouth for prolonged periods.If you cannot follow these instructions or have difficulty swallowing, talk to your doctor.

There are no known effects on the ability to drive or use machines.

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.Treatment with this medicine should only be carried out after a careful risk-benefit assessment and consultation with your doctor and the high dosage of two film-coated tablets per day should not be prescribed over a longer period of time.Even if you are breastfeeding, the medicine should only be prescribed after carefully weighing up the benefits and risks and after consulting your doctor.

Notes

Ferro AIWA® 100 mg contains lactose, sucrose and sodium. It is not intended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
