Information for use with the article Ferro AIWA 100 mg Film-Coated Tablets: Ferro AIWA 100 mg film-coated tablets contain the active substance dried ferrous sulphate and are used to treat iron deficiency conditions. The dosage for adults is 1 film-coated tablet twice daily, to be taken unchewed before meals and with sufficient liquid. Iron therapy is required for at least 8 weeks, followed by a further 6-8 weeks after normalisation of blood levels. People with kidney or liver disease should consult their doctor as there are no adequate dosage recommendations. In case of overdose or forgetting to take the drug, a doctor should be informed. Side effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort. The medicine must not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age and in people with various anaemia and stomach disorders. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor or pharmacist. Conscientious dosage is particularly important in infants, young children and the elderly. There should be no interactions with coffee, tea, dairy products or mineral-rich drinks. The medicine should be stored away from heat.
