Ferro AIWA® 100 mg film-coated tablets

Ferro AIWA® 100 mg film-coated tablets are used to treat iron deficiency conditions.The active ingredient is dried iron (II) sulfate.The product is suitable for adults and is available in the form of film-coated tablets for oral use.

One film-coated tablet contains 100 mg iron as iron (II) sulfate.The preparation also contains the following excipients: maltodextrin, calcium stearate (Ph.Eur.), lactose monohydrate, copovidone, macrogol 4000, talc, calcium carbonate E 170, cocoa butter, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.) [pflanzlich], shellac (bleached, wax-free), titanium dioxide E171, cellulose powder, corn starch, carboxymethyl starch sodium (typeA) (Ph. Eur.), sodium dodecyl sulfate, sucrose, povidone K25, iron oxides and hydroxides (E172).

Area of application

The medicine is used to treat iron deficiency conditions.

Dosage

Adults take one film-coated tablet twice a day.The tablets should be taken whole in the morning on an empty stomach or one hour before meals with enough liquid to prevent possible damage to the mucous membrane.The tablet should not be sucked, chewed or left in the mouth for long periods of time.

The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of the disease.Iron therapy is generally required for a period of at least eight weeks.After the blood values have normalized, treatment should be continued for another six to eight weeks to replenish iron reserves.

No prescription is required for this product.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to ferrous sulfate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The preparation must also not be used in cases of anemia caused by infections or cancer and unless there is also an iron deficiency.It is also not suitable if there is an accumulation of iron in the blood or iron utilization disorders.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.Due to the risk of mouth ulcers and tooth discoloration, the tablets should not be sucked, chewed, or left in the mouth for prolonged periods.If you cannot follow these instructions or have difficulty swallowing, talk to your doctor.

Particular caution is required in the case of inflammation or ulcers of the gastrointestinal mucosa.Talk to your doctor before taking.If you are also taking dietary or other iron salt supplements, you should consult your doctor in advance to avoid the risk of an iron overdose.

Notes

Ferro AIWA® 100 mg contains lactose, sucrose and sodium.It is not intended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
