Ferro AIWA® 100 mg film-coated tablets are used to treat iron deficiency conditions.The active ingredient is dried iron (II) sulfate.No prescription is required for this product.

One film-coated tablet contains dried iron (II) sulfate in an amount of 302.237 - 309.106 mg, which corresponds to 100 mg of iron (II) ions.The other ingredients are maltodextrin, calcium stearate, lactose monohydrate, copovidone, macrogol 4000, talc, calcium carbonate E 170, cocoa butter, magnesium stearate (vegetable), shellac, titanium dioxide E171, cellulose powder, corn starch, carboxymethyl starch sodium (type A), sodium dodecyl sulfate, sucrose (sucrose), povidone K25 and iron oxidesand hydroxides (E172).

Ferro AIWA® 100 mg film-coated tablets are used to treat iron deficiency conditions.

Dosage

Adults take 1 film-coated tablet twice a day.It is not intended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.The film-coated tablets should be taken whole in the morning on an empty stomach or 1 hour before meals with sufficient liquid.The amount of iron to be supplied to the body depends on the stage of iron deficiency.The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of the disease.In principle, iron therapy is required for a period of at least 8 weeks in order to achieve therapeutic success.After the blood values (hemoglobin) have normalized, treatment should be continued for another 6 - 8 weeks to replenish the iron reserves.

Intake

The film-coated tablets should be taken whole in the morning on an empty stomach or 1 hour before meals with sufficient liquid to prevent possible damage to the mucous membrane caused by stuck tablets.Swallow the tablet whole with water.Do not suck, chew or keep the tablet in your mouth.

Contraindications

Ferro AIWA® 100 mg film-coated tablets must not be taken if you are allergic to iron sulfate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The preparation should also not be used in cases of anemia caused by infections or cancer, unless there is also an iron deficiency, or in the case of an accumulation of iron in the blood and iron utilization disorders.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.Due to the risk of mouth ulcers and tooth discoloration, the tablets should not be sucked, chewed or left in the mouth for a long time, but should be swallowed whole with water.If you cannot follow these instructions or have difficulty swallowing, talk to your doctor.Particular caution is required if you suffer from inflammation or ulcers of the gastrointestinal lining or are also taking dietary or other iron salt supplements.There are no known effects on the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.Treatment with this medicine should only be carried out after a careful risk-benefit assessment and consultation with your doctor and the high dosage of two film-coated tablets per day should not be prescribed over a longer period of time.Even if you are breastfeeding, the medicine should only be prescribed after carefully weighing up the benefits and risks and after consulting your doctor.

Notes

Ferro AIWA® 100 mg contains lactose, sucrose and sodium.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.For information about risks and side effects, read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacy.
