Benzaknen 10% Gel is a medicine used to treat acne. It contains the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide and is used for severe acne and for acne conditions where a lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide is not sufficient. It is suitable for use by adolescents aged 12 and over and adults. Benzaknen 10% Gel should be applied thinly to the affected areas of skin 1-2 times a day. The skin should be cleansed before application. The average duration of use is 4-12 weeks. The gel should be stored in a cool and dry place. Side effects such as dehydration, flaking or reddening of the skin may occur. Precise dosage and instructions for use should be discussed with a doctor or pharmacist. Benzaknen 10% Gel contains propylene glycol and has antimicrobial properties to reduce inflammation of the skin. It should not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to the ingredients and caution should be exercised in dry skin prone to allergies. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before use. Other important advice is to avoid excessive UV-radiation and to be aware of possible interactions with other medicines.
