Levocetirizine STADA 5 mg film-coated tablets is a medication used to treat symptoms of allergic diseases such as chronic hives, chronic allergic rhinitis and hay fever.It belongs to the group of antihistamines that block the effects of histamine in the body.Histamine is a substance responsible for allergic reactions in body tissues, including the swollen nasal lining caused by hay fever.
Levocetirizine STADA acts as a second-generation antihistamine and inhibits the binding of histamine to the H1 receptors, thereby reducing histamine effects.It is taken once a day and quickly develops its effect against allergy symptoms.No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients and ingredients
The active ingredient in Levocetirizine STADA 5 mg film-coated tablets is levocetirizine dihydrochloride.One film-coated tablet contains 5 mg levocetirizine dihydrochloride, which corresponds to 4.2 mg levocetirizine.The other ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate (vegetable), hypromellose, macrogol 400 and titanium dioxide (E171).
Area of application
Levocetirizine STADA 5 mg film-coated tablets are used to treat symptoms of allergic diseases such as hay fever, year-round allergic rhinitis (e.g. allergy to dust or animals) and chronic hives.The medication is suitable for adults, adolescents and children over 6 years old.
Dosage
The usual dose for adults and children aged 6 years and over is 1 film-coated tablet daily.The film-coated tablet should be swallowed whole with water or another liquid.It can be taken with or without meals.Children under 6 years of age should not take levocetirizine STADA .If you have mild to moderate kidney failure, your doctor may prescribe a lower dose.
Contraindications
This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to levocetirizine dihydrochloride, cetirizine, hydroxyzine or any of the other ingredients.The medication must also not be used if there is severe impairment of kidney function (severe kidney failure with a creatinine clearance below 10 ml/min).
Patient information
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Levocetirizine STADA , especially if you may not be able to empty your bladder completely or have epilepsy.If you plan to have an allergy test, you should stop using it for several days as the medication may affect the test result.Its use is not recommended for children under 6 years of age.
Ability to drive and use machines
In some patients, levocetirizine STADA may cause drowsiness, tiredness and fatigue.If any of these symptoms occur, do not drive or use machines.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Notes
Levocetirizine STADA contains lactose.If you know that you have an intolerance to certain sugars, please only take this medication after consulting your doctor.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the package.
