Nikofrenone 21 mg/24 hour patch is a nicotine-containing transdermal patch to support smoking cessation and to relieve nicotine withdrawal symptoms. It is used in adults. The patch is applied daily to a healthy, hairless, dry and clean skin area (e.g. upper arm, shoulder area, upper hip) after getting up and left for 24 hours. A higher patch thickness can be chosen in case of withdrawal symptoms. The patch is not waterproof and should be removed during showers or saunas. In case of overdose, symptoms such as nausea, headache and circulatory collapse may occur. Nikofrenone should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to the ingredients, recent heart attack or stroke, skin diseases affecting the whole body, gastritis, ulcers in the digestive tract, cardiovascular diseases, impaired kidney or liver function and during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Side effects may include skin reactions at the sticker site and other symptoms similar to those associated with smoking. Nicofrenone should not be used in non-smokers or occasional smokers.
