Chlorhexamed Mundgel is used for temporary supportive therapy for bacterial inflammation of the gums (gingivitis) and inflammation of the oral mucosa as well as after periodontal surgery.The gel can be used like toothpaste or applied directly to sore spots in the mouth.It fights bacteria that cause inflammation and thus helps with gum disease.The antibacterial effect of the gel supports the treatment of gum inflammation caused by bacteria.The dosage form as a gel enables targeted application to the inflamed areas in the mouth.
Mode of action
Bacteria are the main component of dental plaque and are often the cause of gum inflammation.Chlorhexamed oral gel has an antibacterial effect and supports the treatment of bacterial gum inflammation.The gel can be applied specifically to the inflamed areas in the mouth.
Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients
The active ingredient in Chlorhexamed oral gel is chlorhexidine bis (D-gluconate).50 g of gel contains 0.5 g of chlorhexidine bis(D-gluconate).The other ingredients include 2-propanol, hyprolose, sodium acetate, macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate (Ph. Eur.), purified water, levomenthol and peppermint oil.
Contraindications
Chlorhexamed oral gel should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
Dosage
For adults and children aged 12 and over, the teeth should be brushed with a normal toothpaste at least 5 minutes before using the gel and then rinsed thoroughly with water.The gel is used 1 to 2 times a day, the amount depending on the extent of the inflammation.Children between 6 and 12 years of age should only use the gel after consulting a doctor or pharmacist.The gel must not be used in children under 6 years of age.
To directly treat individual inflamed areas, the gel is applied with a cotton swab in the morning and evening after meals and brushing your teeth.The reaction time is about 1 minute, after which the gel should be spit out.To use like toothpaste, add about 2.5 cm of gel to a moistened toothbrush and brush your teeth for at least 1 minute.The mouth and toothbrush are then rinsed thoroughly with water.
Treatment should not be carried out for longer than a month.If the inflammation does not improve, a doctor should be consulted.Longer use should only be carried out after consulting a doctor.
Intake
Chlorhexamed oral gel is only intended for use in the oral cavity.Before use, the teeth should be brushed with a commercially available toothpaste and the oral cavity should then be rinsed thoroughly with water.The gel is used 1 to 2 times a day, the amount depending on the extent of the inflammation.To treat individual inflamed areas directly, the gel is applied with a cotton swab and left to act for about 1 minute.To use like toothpaste, add about 2.5 cm of gel to a moistened toothbrush and brush your teeth for at least 1 minute.The mouth and toothbrush are then rinsed thoroughly with water.
Patient information
Chlorhexamed oral gel should only be used in the mouth.If you come into contact with your eyes or ears, they should be rinsed thoroughly with water.The gel should not be swallowed.If you experience a rash, swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face, or difficulty breathing, discontinue use and seek medical attention immediately.If you feel sore or have irritation in your mouth, use should be stopped and a doctor or pharmacist informed.At the beginning of treatment, there may be impaired taste, numbness, tingling or burning of the tongue.These symptoms usually disappear with continued use.Temporary discoloration of the tongue, teeth, dentures, or dental fillings may occur and can be removed by brushing your teeth or having your teeth professionally cleaned.
There are no known impairments to the ability to drive or use machines.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.There is no sufficient experience or research on the safety of using chlorhexidine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.Therefore it should only be used with particular caution.
Notes
Chlorhexamed oral gel contains macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate (Ph. Eur.), levomenthol and peppermint oil.No prescription is required for this product.
