Rökan 120 mg is a medicinal product used for the symptomatic treatment of mental performance deficits caused by brain disorders. It contains an extract from ginkgo leaves. It is used as part of an overall therapeutic concept for the progressive reduction or loss of acquired mental abilities (dementia syndrome) with the main complaints of memory disorders, concentration disorders, depression, dizziness, ringing in the ears and headaches. The recommended dosage for adults aged 18 years and over is 1 film-coated tablet (equivalent to 120 mg ginkgo extract twice a day), in the morning and in the evening. The film-coated tablets should be taken unchewed with sufficient liquid (preferably a glass of drinking water). They can be taken independently of meals. The duration of treatment should be at least 8 weeks. After a treatment period of 3 months, a doctor should check whether the continuation of the treatment is still justified. The medicinal product must not be taken if there is hypersensitivity to ginkgo biloba or any of the other ingredients, and during pregnancy. Frequent dizziness and ringing in the ears should always be clarified by a doctor. In the event of sudden hearing loss, a doctor should be consulted immediately. Possible side effects may include gastrointestinal complaints, headaches, dizziness and aggravation of already existing dizziness. A doctor or pharmacist should be consulted in the event of any disturbances or changes occurring during treatment.
