Vagisan sept vaginal suppositories with povidone-iodine are used to treat specific and non-specific infections of the vagina as well as vaginal infections caused by Trichomonas vaginalis and Candida albicans. The vaginal suppositories contain the active ingredient povidone-iodine, which has a disinfecting effect and is effective against various pathogens such as bacteria, fungi and certain viruses. It is applied once a day by inserting one vaginal suppository as deeply as possible into the vagina. If necessary, two vaginal suppositories can also be used daily. The duration of treatment should not exceed 10 days. It is recommended to wear a panty liner during use, as the iodine contained can cause brown stains on textiles. If symptoms persist or do not improve within 10 days, a doctor should be consulted. The medicinal product should be stored at a temperature below 25°C. Further information on use and storage can be found in the package leaflet. Before use, possible contraindications such as hypersensitivity to the ingredients or thyroid disorders should be noted. The medicinal product must not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Possible side effects may include pain at the site of application, a feeling of warmth and a slight burning sensation on the mucous membrane. Vagisan sept vaginal suppositories can be purchased without a prescription, but no more than 15 packs should be purchased per quarter for drug safety.
