Vagisan sept vaginal suppositories with povidone-iodine are vaginal suppositories for the treatment of specific and non-specific vaginal infections and vaginal infections caused by Trichomonas vaginalis and Candida albicans. It is used by inserting a vaginal suppository as deeply as possible into the vagina once a day. If necessary, two suppositories can also be used daily. However, the duration of treatment should not exceed 10 days. Tampons should not be used during treatment. The iodine contained may cause brown stains on textiles, so wearing a panty liner is recommended. A doctor should be consulted if a large amount of suppository is applied or if it is forgotten. Side effects may include pain, a feeling of warmth and a slight burning sensation. The medicine should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to the ingredients or in case of certain thyroid diseases. It must also not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Interactions with other medicines are possible, so a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted before using any new medicines. It should be stored away from heat.
