A migraine attack manifests itself as a severe, often one-sided throbbing headache, which is often accompanied by nausea, vomiting and increased sensitivity to light and noise.Early treatment with sumatriptan HEXAL® for migraines can quickly relieve the stressful symptoms.

Active ingredient of Sumatriptan HEXAL® for migraines: The active ingredient is sumatriptan.One tablet contains 70 mg sumatriptan succinate, equivalent to 50 mg sumatriptan.The other ingredients are ammonium methacrylate copolymer (type A), microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, carmellose sodium, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, iron (III) oxide, iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O, grapefruit flavor (contains sulfites and menthol).

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients mentioned, this product should not be used.

Dosage

Recommended use of Sumatriptan HEXAL® for migraines: Adults aged 18 and over take 1 tablet of Sumatriptan HEXAL® for migraines whole with water at the first sign of an acute migraine headache attack.If a headache that has already subsided occurs again, another tablet can be taken within 24 hours, although the interval between doses must be at least 2 hours.The maximum dose of 2 film-coated tablets within 24 hours must not be exceeded.Sumatriptan HEXAL® for migraines is not suitable for preventing migraines.The medicine only works once the acute headache phase of migraine has begun.

Before you take sumatriptan, a doctor must confirm that your headaches are caused by migraines and not by another medical condition.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking sumatriptan if you have certain risk factors, such as heavy smoking, nicotine replacement therapy, men over 40 years of age, or postmenopausal women.In very rare cases, serious heart problems may occur after taking sumatriptan.Tell your doctor if you have a history of seizures or have risk factors for them, such as a head injury or alcohol dependence.You should also inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease. If you are hypersensitive to sulfonamide antibiotics, you may also be hypersensitive to the medicine.Before taking sumatriptan, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking medication for depression.Taking sumatriptan too often may make your headaches worse.Tell your doctor if this applies to you.If you feel chest pain or tightness after taking it, seek medical attention immediately.This medicine is not approved for use in hemiplegic, basilar or ophthalmoplegic migraines.

Both the migraine attack and taking sumatriptan can cause drowsiness.If you are affected by this, do not drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.There is limited information on the safety of sumatriptan in pregnant women, although there is no evidence of an increased risk of malformations.Your doctor will discuss with you whether or not you should take this medicine during pregnancy.Do not breastfeed your baby until 12 hours after taking the product.If you express milk during this time, discard it and do not give it to your infant.Some breastfeeding women report breast pain and/or nipple pain after using sumatriptan.The pain is usually temporary and goes away within 3 to 12 hours.

Contains lactose, sulfites and menthol.Use only after initial diagnosis of migraine by a doctor.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
