Instructions for use for the Aqua B.Braun flushing solution

Aqua B. Braun irrigation solution is a sterile and endotoxin-free solution suitable for various medical applications.No prescription is required for this product.

Composition

1000 ml of the solution contains Aqua ad iniectabilia 1000 ml.

Areas of application

The Aqua B. Braun rinsing solution is used for rinsing and cleaning during surgical procedures.It is also suitable for rinsing wounds and burns as well as moistening wound packs, cloths and bandages.It can also be used to flush and clean bladder catheters and for ostomy care.The solution is also suitable for rinsing and cleaning instruments and accessories.For respiratory humidification devices, the use of containers of 100 ml or more is recommended, while for mechanical eyewash, 30 ml containers are recommended.

Dosage

The amount of liquid required depends on the respective situation and the area of application.

Overdose

In the event of an overdose, particularly when rinsing wounds and during intraoperative use, absorption of rinsing fluid can occur.This can lead to hypervolemia in the sense of hypotonic hyperhydration (hyponatremia).Symptoms of hyperhydration include headache, nausea, restlessness and disorientation.In severe cases, coma-like conditions may occur.

Countermeasures in case of overdose

In the event of an overdose, rinsing should be stopped and the water and electrolyte balance corrected according to the clinical situation.

Warnings and precautions

The solution must not be used for infusion.It should only be used if the closure is unbroken and the solution appears clear.Opened containers must not be stored; remaining quantities must be discarded.Reusing single-use devices poses a potential risk and may result in contamination or malfunction.The solution must not be used for intrathecal irrigation procedures.The rinsing solution should also be kept out of the reach of children.

So far, no undesirable side effects are known.

Expiry date

The solution must not be used after the expiry date stated on the label.

The Aqua B. Braun rinse solution is available in various containers, including Ecolav PE bottles in sizes 100, 250, 500 and 1,000 ml and Ecotainer PP bottles in sizes 500 and 1,000 ml.
