What is B12 Ankermann 1000 µg and what is it used for?

B12 Ankermann 1000 µg is a vitamin B12 preparation that contains the active ingredient cyanocobalamin.It is used to treat vitamin B12 deficiency that cannot be compensated for through diet.Vitamin B12 is essential for blood formation and the function of the nervous system.A deficiency can manifest itself as anemia, spinal cord damage and other neurological disorders.

Areas of application

B12 Ankermann 1000 µg is used for vitamin B12 deficiency, which can manifest itself in various clinical pictures, including hyperchromic macrocytic megaloblastic anemia (such as perniciosa, Biermer anemia, Addison's anemia) and funicular spinal disease (spinal cord damage).Such a deficiency can be caused by years of malnutrition and malnutrition, malabsorption in the intestine, insufficient production of intrinsic factor, diseases of the ileum, fish tapeworm infestation, blind loop syndrome or congenital vitamin B12 transport disorders.

Dosage and application

B12 Ankermann 1000 µg should always be used exactly as directed.At the start of treatment, 1 ml (1 ampoule) is administered once or twice a week in the first two weeks after diagnosis, corresponding to 1000-2000 µg cyanocobalamin per week.If a vitamin B12 absorption disorder in the intestine is proven, 100 µg cyanocobalamin is then administered once a month.The preparation is intended for long-term use and the duration of use should be determined in consultation with the doctor.

Type of application

B12 Ankermann 1000 µg is usually administered intramuscularly, but can also be given slowly intravenously or subcutaneously.The application should only be carried out by qualified personnel.

Active ingredients and ingredients

1 Ampoule with 1 ml injection solution contains the active ingredient cyanocobalamin in a dosage of 1000 µg.The other ingredients are sodium chloride, acetic acid and water for injections.

Contraindications
