Instructions for use of Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets

Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride.This active ingredient belongs to the group of anti-allergic drugs and is used to relieve allergy symptoms.The film-coated tablets are suitable for adults and children aged six and over and help to improve nasal and eye symptoms in seasonal and year-round allergic rhinitis as well as chronic hives.

Areas of application

Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets are used to relieve nasal and eye symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and to relieve chronic hives (chronic idiopathic urticaria).The active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride acts as an anti-allergic agent and helps to reduce the unpleasant symptoms of allergies.

Dosage and application

The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of liquid.The tablet can be divided into equal doses.Adults and adolescents over the age of twelve take one tablet (10 mg) once daily.Children between six and twelve years of age take half a tablet (5 mg) twice daily.Patients with kidney failure should adjust the dose accordingly, although individual advice from a doctor or pharmacist is recommended.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, headache, nausea, dry mouth and tiredness.Uncommon side effects include agitation, paresthesias, abdominal pain, pruritus, rash, asthenia, and diarrhea.Rare and very rare side effects are listed in detail in the package leaflet.

Contraindications

Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets must not be taken if you have severe kidney disease or are allergic to cetirizine dihydrochloride, any of the other ingredients of the medicine, hydroxyzine or other piperazine derivatives.If you have impaired kidney function, difficulty urinating or epilepsy, you should consult a doctor before taking it.

Interactions

No clinically significant interactions between cetirizine and other medicinal products have been observed.However, taking cetirizine and alcohol at the same time should be avoided as this may affect the way the drug works.If allergy tests are planned, the intake of cetirizine should be interrupted a few days beforehand so as not to influence the test result.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets.Cetirizine should be avoided in pregnant women and the drug should not be taken during breastfeeding because cetirizine is excreted in breast milk.

Storage

Cetirizin Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets should be kept out of the reach of children.The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging.No special storage conditions are required.

Composition

Each film-coated tablet contains 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride as active ingredient.The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, corn starch, povidone 30, magnesium stearate, hypromellose 2910/5, macrogol 6000, talc, titanium dioxide, simeticone emulsion SE 4, simeticone, methylcellulose, sorbic acid and purified water.
