Instructions for use of Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets

Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride.This medicine is used to relieve nasal and eye symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and to relieve chronic hives (chronic idiopathic urticaria).Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets are an anti-allergic medicine that can be used in adults and children from the age of six.

No prescription is required for this product.

Important notes

Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets must not be taken if you have severe kidney disease or are allergic to cetirizine dihydrochloride, any of the other ingredients of the medicine, hydroxyzine or other piperazine derivatives.If you have impaired kidney function, you should consult your doctor before taking it as a lower dose may be required.The same applies if you have difficulty urinating, have epilepsy, or are at risk of seizures.

No clinically significant interactions have been observed between alcohol and cetirizine at recommended doses.However, it is recommended to avoid taking Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets and alcohol at the same time.If you are to have an allergy test done, please ask your doctor whether you should stop taking Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets for a few days before the test.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.Food has no effect on the absorption of cetirizine.

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.Cetirizin Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets should be avoided in pregnant women.Cetirizine passes into breast milk, so you should not take Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets while breast-feeding until you have consulted your doctor.

In clinical studies, Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets at the recommended dose did not produce any signs of impairment of attention, alertness or ability to drive.If you plan to drive, work without a secure footing or operate machines, you should carefully monitor your reaction to the medicine after taking Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets.

Cetirizin Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets contain lactose.If you know that you have an intolerance to certain sugars, please only take Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets after consulting your doctor.

Application

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of liquid.The tablet can be divided into equal doses.

Adults and adolescents over twelve years of age should take 10 mg once daily (1 tablet).Children between six and twelve years of age should take 5 mg twice daily (½ tablet twice daily).Patients with kidney failure are recommended to take 5 mg once daily.If you have severe kidney disease, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist, who can adjust your dose accordingly.

The length of time you take it depends on the type, duration and course of your symptoms.If you have the impression that the effect of Cetirizin Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets is too weak or too strong, please contact your doctor.

If you have taken more Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets than you should, please tell your doctor.After an overdose, the side effects described can occur with increased intensity.If you forget to take Cetirizin Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets, do not take a double dose.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. Possible side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, headache, nausea, dry mouth, fatigue, agitation, paraesthesia, abdominal pain, itching, rash, asthenia, malaise, diarrhea, allergic reactions, depression, hallucinations, aggression, confusion, insomnia, convulsions, tachycardia, abnormal liver function, urticaria, edema, weight gain, thrombocytopenia, "tics", syncope,Dyskinesia, dystonia, tremor, dysgeusia, blurred vision, accommodation disorders, oculogyration, angioedema, fixed drug eruption, abnormal urination, increased appetite, suicidal ideation, memory loss, memory impairment, vertigo and urinary retention.

If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.This also applies to side effects that are not listed in this leaflet.

Storage

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.You must not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the outer carton and blister pack after “Use by”.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.

Composition

The active ingredient of Cetirizin Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets is cetirizine dihydrochloride.1 film-coated tablet contains 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride.The other ingredients are: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, povidone 30, magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.), hypromellose 2910/5 (E 464), macrogol 6000, talc, titanium dioxide (E 171), simeticon emulsion SE 4 (consisting of purified water, simeticon, methylcellulose, sorbic acid [Ph. Eur.]).

Cetirizine Zentiva 10 mg film-coated tablets are white to off-white, oblong film-coated tablets with a score line on one side.Packs of 7, 20, 50 and 100 film-coated tablets are available.
