Calcigen D Intens chewable tablets are a calcium-vitamin D3 preparation that is used to prevent and treat calcium and vitamin D deficiencies in older people.It also serves as a calcium and vitamin D supplement to support the treatment of osteoporosis.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each chewable tablet contains 2,500 mg calcium carbonate (equivalent to 1,000 mg calcium) and 8.8 mg colecalciferol dry concentrate (powder form) (equivalent to 22 micrograms colecalciferol = 880 IU vitamin D3).The other ingredients are isomalt (E953), xylitol, sorbitol (E420), citric acid, sodium dihydrogen citrate, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.) [pflanzlich], carmellose sodium (Ph.Eur), orange flavor "CPB" and orange flavor "CVT" (both contain sorbitol (E420)), aspartame (E951),Acesulfame potassium, sodium ascorbate, all-rac-a-tocopherol, starch, modified (corn), sucrose (sugar), medium chain triglycerides and colloidal silicon dioxide.

Calcigen D Intens chewable tablets are used for the prevention and treatment of calcium and vitamin D deficiencies in older people and as a calcium and vitamin D supplement to support the treatment of osteoporosis.

Dosage and application

Adults and older people take 1 chewable tablet daily (corresponding to 1,000 mg calcium and 880 IU vitamin D3).Pregnant women only take 1/2 chewable tablet daily (corresponding to 500 mg calcium and 440 IU vitamin D3).The tablet must be chewed before it is swallowed.It can be taken at any time of the day, regardless of meals.Taking it is a long-term treatment and the duration should be discussed with the doctor.

Contraindications

Calcigen D Intens chewable tablets must not be taken if you are allergic to calcium, vitamin D3 or any of the other ingredients, if you have increased calcium blood levels, if you have increased calcium excretion in the urine, if you have an overactive parathyroid gland, if you have bone marrow cancer, if you have cancer that spreads to the bones, if you have prolonged immobilization of the limbs accompanied by increased calcium blood levels and/or increased calcium excretion in the urine, if you have kidney stonesCalcium deposits in the kidneys, vitamin D overdose, severe kidney problems and if you are under 18 years old.

Side effects

Possible side effects include nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, gas, bloating, rash, itching, hives, high calcium levels in the blood or urine.If any of the side effects listed get serious or you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage

Keep medicines out of the reach of children.Calcigen D Intens chewable tablets must not be used after the expiry date stated on the carton and tube or foil strip.The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.Keep the tube tightly closed to protect the contents from moisture.No special storage conditions are required for foil strips.
