Hametum® wound and healing ointment

Hametum® wound and healing ointment is a herbal medicine for wound treatment.The active ingredient is witch hazel distillate, which is obtained from fresh witch hazel leaves and twigs.This product is available without a prescription.

Areas of application

The ointment is used for minor skin injuries and small-scale inflammation of the skin and mucous membranes.These include abrasions and cuts, scalds and minor burns, sunburn, dry, rough, cracked and cracked skin, as well as hemorrhoids and soreness in infants.However, if the wounds are large or have purulent infection, a doctor should be consulted.

Mode of action

After application, a protective film forms on the upper layers of the skin, which strengthens the skin's barrier function.The ointment moisturizes the skin and its fatty components improve skin elasticity.The plant substances in witch hazel have an anti-inflammatory, anti-itching effect and fight bacteria and fungi directly on the skin, thereby inhibiting or preventing their reproduction.The hemostatic effect helps with skin tears and minor injuries.Thanks to this comprehensive healing effect, the skin appears regenerated and feels soft and supple again.

Active ingredients and ingredients

100 Grams of the ointment contains 6.25 grams of witch hazel leaves and twigs fresh distillate.The other ingredients include cetostearyl alcohol, citric acid-glycerol monooleate-glycerol monostearate-L-(+)-6-O-palmitoyascorbic acid-DL-alpha-tocopherol lecithin, disodium edetate, glycerol (mono/di/tri) [adipat, alkanoat (C6-C20) isostearat], thick paraffin, microcrystalline hydrocarbons(C40-C60), propylene glycol, white petroleum jelly, purified water and wool wax containing butylated hydroxytoluene.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive to witch hazel, wool wax or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.

Dosage and application

The ointment is applied thinly to the affected skin areas several times a day.The duration of use depends on the type of symptoms and/or the course of the disease.Use should be continued until symptoms subside.The medicine should not be used for longer than 4 weeks without medical advice.If symptoms persist for a long time or recur regularly, you should consult a doctor.Without medical advice, the medicine should not be used for longer than 1 week if the symptoms have not improved after this time.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Hametum® wound and healing ointment can have side effects.Allergic reactions can occur very rarely.If skin redness or itching occurs, use should be stopped and a doctor consulted.If other side effects are observed, a doctor or pharmacist should also be informed.

Storage

The medicine must be protected from heat and kept out of the reach of children.The expiry date is printed on the folding box and tube.The preparation should no longer be used after the expiry date.The shelf life after opening is 6 months.The medicine may be used for a maximum of 6 months after opening/preparation and must be stored at room temperature after opening/preparation.
