Hametum® wound and healing ointment is an ointment for local use for minor skin injuries and small-area inflammation of the skin and mucous membranes.The herbal active ingredient from witch hazel (witch hazel) helps against itching, inflammation and bleeding.The ointment base provides your skin with oil and moisture.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

Hametum wound and healing ointment can be used for superficial skin defects such as abrasions and cuts, scalds and minor burns as well as sunburn.It is also suitable for dry, brittle, cracked and chapped skin, including aging skin, as well as for hemorrhoids or in the case of soreness in infants.

Mode of action

After applying the Hametum wound and healing ointment, a protective film forms on the upper layers of the skin, which strengthens the skin's barrier function.The ointment restores moisture to the skin and its fatty components improve skin elasticity.The plant substances in witch hazel are better transported into the skin and have an anti-inflammatory, anti-itching effect and attack bacteria and fungi directly on the skin in order to inhibit or prevent them from multiplying.The hemostatic effect of the plant substances helps with skin cracks and small injuries.Thanks to this comprehensive healing effect, the skin appears regenerated and feels soft and supple again.

6.25 g witch hazel leaves and branches fresh distillate, (1:1.12 - 2.08), distillation agent: ethanol 6% (m/m).

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive to witch hazel or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.

Dosage

Apply Hametum wound and healing ointment thinly to the affected skin areas several times a day or massage them in lightly.

Particular caution is required when using it: If you have advanced hemorrhoidal disease and other palpable external changes in the anal region, you should consult a doctor.The medicine contains substances that can cause allergies if used for a long time in the anal area.Pay particular attention to new or worsening itching, redness, and swelling in the treated area.If you notice any such symptoms, please stop using the medicine and consult your doctor.When treating the genital or anal area with the drug, the tear resistance and thus the safety of condoms may be reduced if latex condoms are used at the same time.

Pregnancy

There are no sufficient data on the use of this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.It therefore makes sense to discuss this with your doctor or midwife in advance.Preparations containing tannins should only be used on small areas during pregnancy (maximum 2 palm-sized areas).If used in the nipple area during breastfeeding, the skin should be carefully cleansed before breastfeeding.
