Ambroxol ratiopharm cough drops

Ambroxol ratiopharm cough drops contain the active ingredient ambroxol hydrochloride.This medicine is used for the expectorant treatment of acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs with thick mucus.It helps to liquefy mucus and make it easier to cough up.

Ambroxol-ratiopharm cough drops are used for respiratory diseases with thick mucus.These include acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs, such as mucous cough.

Dosage and application

Always take Ambroxol ratiopharm cough drops exactly as directed.Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:

Children up to 2 years take 1 ml drops twice a day.This corresponds to a daily dose of 15 mg ambroxol hydrochloride.This application may only be carried out under medical supervision.

Children aged 2 to 5 years take 1 ml drops 3 times a day.This corresponds to a daily dose of 22.5 mg ambroxol hydrochloride.

Children aged 6 to 12 years take 2 ml drops 2 to 3 times a day.This corresponds to a daily dose of 30 - 45 mg ambroxol hydrochloride.

Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults take 4 ml drops 3 times a day for the first 2 - 3 days.This corresponds to a daily dose of 90 mg ambroxol hydrochloride.Then take 4 ml drops twice a day, which corresponds to a daily dose of 60 mg ambroxol hydrochloride.

An appropriately marked measuring cup is included in the pack for measuring the dose.Take the drops diluted in liquid such as water, tea or juice after meals.

The expectorant effect of Ambroxol ratiopharm cough drops is improved by fluid intake.

If you suffer from impaired kidney function or severe liver disease, you must increase the interval between doses or reduce the dose.

Do not take Ambroxol ratiopharm cough drops for longer than 4 - 5 days without medical advice.If after this time there is no improvement or your condition worsens, you should consult a doctor.

Overdose

Serious symptoms of poisoning have not been observed in the event of an overdose of Ambroxol.Short-term restlessness and diarrhea have been reported.In the event of accidental or intentional extreme overdose, increased salivation, gagging, vomiting and a drop in blood pressure may occur.

If you have taken Ambroxol ratiopharm cough drops in too large quantities, please contact a doctor.Acute measures such as induction of vomiting and gastric lavage are not generally indicated and should only be considered in the event of extreme overdose.Treatment is recommended according to the symptoms of the overdose.

Forgot to take it

Continue taking as normal at the next prescribed time.Do not take a double dose.

Contraindications

You must not take Ambroxol ratiopharm cough drops if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to Ambroxol or any of the other ingredients.

Particular caution is required in the case of reduced function of the cilia in the respiratory tract, such as in malignant cilia syndrome, impaired kidney function or impaired liver function.

Infants and small children under 2 years of age may only use the medicine after consulting a doctor or under medical supervision.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should only take this medicine as directed by your doctor.

Side effects

Possible side effects include gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.Hypersensitivity reactions of the skin and mucous membranes such as itching, rash, facial swelling and attacks of shortness of breath may also occur.

Composition

Active ingredients: 7.5 mg ambroxol hydrochloride and 6.84 mg ambroxol.

Excipients: potassium sorbate, hydrochloric acid for pH adjustment and purified water.

Mode of action

The active ingredient loosens stuck mucus in the respiratory tract.The viscous mucus becomes thinner and its adhesion to the mucous membranes of the bronchi decreases.This reduces mucus and makes it easier to cough up.Applied locally, the active ingredient can anesthetize mucous membranes on the surface and, for example, relieve a sore throat for a short time.

Storage

Keep medicines out of the reach of children. You must not take the medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton.Ambroxol-ratiopharm cough drops have a shelf life of 3 months after opening.
