Areas of application
Biotin H Forte is a vitamin preparation used to prevent and treat biotin deficiency conditions. It can also be used to treat biotin deficiency in the very rare biotin-dependent multiple carboxylase deficiency. For prevention, less than 0.2 mg of biotin per day is sufficient.
Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients
The active ingredient in Biotin H Forte is biotin with a dosage of 10 mg per tablet. The excipients include microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone, lactose-1-water, magnesium stearate and povidone K30.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to biotin or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.
Dosage
Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is 1 tablet (equivalent to 10 mg biotin) once daily. For prophylaxis, less than 0.2 mg of biotin per day is sufficient. To treat multiple carboxylase deficiency, 1 tablet daily is also recommended. For lower dosages, preparations with a lower active ingredient content are available.
The duration of use depends on the normalization of biotin levels in the blood and the course of the underlying disease. In the very rare case of biotin-dependent multiple carboxylase deficiency, it is taken for life.
Poisoning and overdose symptoms are not known.

The tablets are swallowed whole with sufficient liquid.

Other
To prevent biotin deficiency, less than 0.2 mg of biotin per day is sufficient. For lower amounts, medicines with a lower biotin content are available.Deficiency symptoms do not normally occur in humans. However, ingesting very large amounts of raw egg whites can trigger skin inflammation due to a biotin deficiency (deficient matitis), the so-called egg protein damage.
Egg protein contains the glucoprotein avidin, which forms a stable complex with biotin that cannot be broken down in the gastrointestinal tract. In this way, biotin cannot be available to the body and a biotin deficiency occurs. In addition, in multiple carboxylase deficiency, the biotin requirement is increased due to a genetic defect.A pronounced deficiency can be seen in the skin and appendages of the skin and also results in specific psychological complaints and disorders of the gastrointestinal tract.
Mode of action
Biotin, also known as vitamin B7 or vitamin H, is a water-soluble vitamin and part of the vitamin B complex. It is particularly needed for the functioning of metabolism, nerves, digestion and the cardiovascular system.
Storage
The medicine must be stored away from heat and moisture, for example in a tightly closed container.
