Vitamin C 500 film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient ascorbic acid.This preparation is used to prevent and treat vitamin C deficiency, especially when adequate dietary intake is not guaranteed.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

Vitamin C 500 film-coated tablets are used to prevent vitamin C deficiency when adequate intake through diet is not ensured, and to treat vitamin C deficiency diseases.

Dosage and application

The recommended dose for adults with vitamin C deficiency is 200 to 1000 mg of ascorbic acid per day, corresponding to 1 to 2 film-coated tablets daily.To prevent vitamin C deficiency when this is not possible through diet, adults receive 50 to 200 mg of ascorbic acid per day, equivalent to 1 film-coated tablet every second or third day.The film-coated tablets are swallowed whole with sufficient liquid.The duration of use depends on the course of the disease and the blood values and should be determined in consultation with a doctor.

Composition

One film-coated tablet contains 500 mg ascorbic acid as the active ingredient.The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, magnesium stearate, lactose monohydrate, hypromellose, talc, crospovidone, titanium dioxide, iron (III) oxide hydrate and stearic acid.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken in case of hypersensitivity to ascorbic acid or any of the other ingredients, in the case of kidney stones made from calcium oxalate and in certain diseases with iron overload such as thalassemia, hemochromatosis and sideroblastic anemia.If you have glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, a predisposition to kidney stone formation and dialysis, the medicine should only be taken after consulting a doctor.Children and adolescents under the age of 18 should generally not use the medicine.If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, use should be discussed with a doctor.

Side effects

Storage
