Area of application

ICHTHOLAN 20% Ointment is a black ointment that contains the active ingredient ammonium bituminosulfonate (ICHTHYOL).It is used to ripen boils and superficial abscessing processes.The ointment fights bacteria, inhibits inflammation and draws pus to the surface of the skin so that it drains more easily.It penetrates deep into the skin and helps to quickly draw out inflammation and pus from the skin.

ICHTHOLAN 20% is used for nail bed inflammation, razor bumps, inflammation caused by splinters and thorns as well as sweat gland inflammation.The ointment is applied thickly to the affected area and covered with an all-round plaster or bandage.

It is important to act immediately in the event of purulent inflammation of the skin in order to prevent the inflammation from spreading and to prevent a visit to the doctor if possible. ICHTHOLAN is available in three potencies: 10%, 20% and 50%.The 10% ointment is suitable for sensitive skin areas, while the 50% ointment is used for deep accumulations of pus.

ICHTHOLAN 20% Ointment contains 200 mg of ammonium bituminosulfonate as an active ingredient.The excipients are yellow petroleum jelly, wool wax, butylated hydroxytoluene and purified water.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if there is proven hypersensitivity to sulfonated shale oils such as ammonium and/or sodium bituminosulfonate or any of the other ingredients.The ointment must also not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Dosage

Always use the medicine exactly as directed.Apply the ointment thickly to the skin areas to be treated and cover them with a bandage.The dressing should be changed daily.As a permanent dressing, the ointment should not be used for longer than a maximum of 3 days.The duration of application depends on the success of the treatment.The frequency of use depends on the type and severity of the clinical picture and the skin reaction.
