ICHTHOLAN 20% ointment contains the active ingredient ammonium bituminosulfonate and is used to ripen boils and superficial abscessing processes. The ointment fights bacteria, inhibits inflammation and draws pus to the skin surface. It is applied to the affected area and covered with a bandage. The duration of application depends on the success of the treatment and the frequency of application depends on the severity of the clinical picture and the skin reaction. Skin irritation may occur in the event of an overdose. The medicinal product must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to sulphonated shale oils, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. There are different strengths of the ICHTHOLAN ointments (10%, 20%, 50%), depending on the area of application.
