What is Ichtholan 20% ointment and what is it used for?

Ichtholan 20% ointment contains ammonium bituminosulfonate, also known as ichthyol, as the active ingredient.It is a medicine that is applied to the skin and is used to ripen boils and superficial abscesses.The active ingredient belongs to the group of sulfonated shale oils and has a weak antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect.

How to use Ichtholan 20% ointment?

Apply the ointment thickly to the affected skin areas and cover them with a bandage.The bandage should be changed daily.When used as a permanent dressing, the period of stay should be a maximum of three days.The duration of use depends on the success of the treatment and should be discussed with a doctor.Before each new dressing change, wash off any remaining ointment.The frequency of use depends on the type and severity of the disease and the skin reaction.

Composition
