Area of application

The medicine is a vitamin and is used for folic acid deficiency that cannot be compensated for by diet.The active ingredient folic acid is a water-soluble vitamin that the body needs for numerous metabolic processes, cell structure and the formation of red blood cells.

Each tablet contains 5 mg of folic acid as the active ingredient.The following excipients are included: lactose-1-water, 92.24 mg lactose, talc, cellulose powder, highly dispersed silicon dioxide and magnesium stearate.The product is gluten free.

Dosage

The usual dosage for adults is 1 tablet 1 to 3 times daily with meals.The exact dosage and duration of use is determined by the doctor.No prescription is required for this product.

Intake

The tablets should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid, such as a glass of water.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if there is hypersensitivity to folic acid or any of the other ingredients.If you have anemia with enlarged red blood cells (hyperchromic anemia), the medicine should not be used as it could mask a vitamin B12 deficiency.If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking it.

Side effects

Possible side effects may include allergic reactions, skin redness, itching, bronchial spasm, nausea, sleep disorders, agitation, depression and gastrointestinal complaints.If such symptoms occur, a doctor or pharmacist should be contacted.

If you have intolerance to lactose, the medicine should be taken with caution.Patients with diabetes should consider sugar content.Particular attention should be paid to accurate dosage for infants, young children and the elderly.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, no more than 5 mg of folic acid should be taken daily, unless the doctor has prescribed a higher dosage.
