Instructions for use of Systral Hydrocort 0.5% cream

Systral Hydrocort 0.5% cream is a medicine for external use in inflammatory and allergic skin diseases with minor symptoms.The active ingredient hydrocortisone has an anti-inflammatory effect and suppresses unwanted immunological processes.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

Systral Hydrocort 0.5% cream is used for mild inflammatory and allergic skin diseases that respond to treatment with weak corticosteroids.These include, for example, allergic skin diseases, mild skin inflammation, itching, dandruff and burning.The cream can also be used for sunburns and insect bites.The application should last a maximum of two weeks.

Mode of action

The active ingredient hydrocortisone is a natural endogenous hormone that has an anti-inflammatory effect and suppresses unwanted immunological processes.In Systral Hydrocort 0.5% cream, the dosage of hydrocortisone is so low that it belongs to the group of mild cortisones and still has a reliable effect.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Active ingredient: hydrocortisone.1 g of cream contains 5 mg of hydrocortisone.Other ingredients include stearic acid, propylene glycol, sorbitan stearate, polysorbate, octyldodecanol, hard fat and purified water.Propylene glycol can cause skin irritation.

Contraindications

Systral Hydrocort 0.5% cream must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to hydrocortisone or any of the other ingredients of the cream.The cream must also not be used in cases of chickenpox, vaccination reactions, syphilitic or tuberculous skin diseases, simultaneous skin infections caused by bacteria or fungi, certain skin inflammations in the area of the mouth (perioral dermatitis) or face (rosacea) or during the first trimester of pregnancy.

Dosage and application

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, Systral Hydrocort 0.5% cream is applied thinly to the affected areas two to three times a day and rubbed in gently.Once improvement has occurred, one application per day or every two to three days is usually enough.Even after the symptoms have subsided, the cream should be used for a few more days to prevent the disease from recurring.When using it on the face, make sure that the cream does not get into the eyes.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Systral Hydrocort 0.5% cream can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include burning, itching and a feeling of tension if you are hypersensitive to hydrocortisone or one of the other ingredients.With prolonged use, thinning of the skin, tiny bleeding, stripes of skin due to damage to the elastic fibers or acne-like symptoms may occur.If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage

Keep Systral Hydrocort 0.5% cream out of the reach of children and do not store the medicine above 30°C.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the container and carton.Do not throw away medicines via wastewater or household waste.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.
