The active ingredients in CalciDoc chewable tablets are calcium carbonate and colecalciferol (vitamin D).One chewable tablet contains 1500 mg calcium carbonate, equivalent to 600 mg calcium, and 4 mg colecalciferol dry concentrate, equivalent to 400 international units of vitamin D.Excipients include alpha-tocopherol, gelatin, magnesium stearate, corn starch, saccharin sodium, sucrose, silicon dioxide, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, xylitol, flavorings and 0.06 bread units of total carbohydrates.

Contraindications

CalciDoc chewable tablets must not be taken if you are allergic to calcium carbonate, colecalciferol, soy, peanut or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.Also with increased calcium content in the blood (hypercalcemia), increased calcium excretion in the urine (hypercalciuria), kidney limestones, tissue calcification of the kidneys (nephrocalcinosis), impaired kidney function (renal insufficiency), overactive parathyroid gland, vitamin D overdose, multiple bone marrow tumor (myeloma), secondary tumors in the bone (bone metastases) or immobilizationof limbs (immobilization osteoporosis) you should not take the medicine.

Dosage

The usual dose for adults is 1 chewable tablet twice a day, morning and evening.This corresponds to a daily dose of 1200 mg calcium and 800 international units of vitamin D. The chewable tablet should be carefully chewed or sucked before swallowing.It is taken during or after eating.The duration of intake depends on the doctor's instructions.In the event of an overdose, symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, thirst, increased thirst, increased urination and constipation may occur.If you suspect an overdose, you should contact your doctor immediately.

Patient information

Take special care when taking CalciDoc chewable tablets if you have previously had kidney stones or suffer from a certain lung disease (sarcoidosis).During long-term treatment, your doctor will monitor your serum calcium levels and kidney function.If other vitamin D preparations are prescribed at the same time, the daily dose of vitamin D administered must be taken into account.Additional administration of vitamin D or calcium should be carried out under medical supervision.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy, CalciDoc should only be taken after a doctor has carefully weighed the benefits and risks and should only be dosed in the amount that is absolutely necessary to correct the deficiency.Overdoses of vitamin D during pregnancy must be prevented as long-term hypercalcemia can lead to physical and mental disability, aortic narrowing and retinal diseases in the child.Vitamin D and its metabolites pass into breast milk, but an overdose in infants caused by this route has not been observed.
