Areas of application

Moronal ointment is an antifungal used to treat yeast infections of the skin.These include infections caused by Candida albicans and other yeast fungi, such as intertrigo, interdigital mycosis, perianal and genital mycosis, paronychia and diaper rash.The ointment relieves symptoms of these infections.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

The active ingredient in Moronal ointment is nystatin with a concentration of 100,000 IU per gram. The other ingredients are polyethylene, thick paraffin (containing allrac-alpha-tocopherol) and alpha-tocopherol.

Contraindications

Moronal ointment must not be used if you are allergic to nystatin, other polyene antibiotics or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The ointment should also not be used if you are hypersensitive to antifungal agents such as amphotericin B or nystatin.

Dosage

Moronal ointment should be applied to the affected skin areas one to several times a day.Treatment should be continued until complete healing, but not longer than seven days without medical advice.In the event of an overdose, no special measures are required, except that the ointment should be applied thinly and only for as long as necessary.If an application is forgotten, double the amount should not be applied.Stopping treatment could jeopardize the success of the treatment.

The ointment is intended for use on the skin.It is applied directly to the affected areas.

Patient information

Before using Moronal ointment you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist, especially if you are using other medicines.Simultaneous use with latex products can lead to functional impairment.Its use is not recommended for very underweight and immature premature babies.There are no known special restrictions for older people.The ability to drive and use machines is not affected.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.At therapeutic doses, nystatin is barely absorbed and does not cross the placental barrier.It is also not expected to pass into breast milk.Moronal ointment can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Notes

For information about risks and side effects, read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacist.In the case of fungal infections, all affected areas must be treated to prevent further illnesses.Treatment should be carried out long enough to avoid relapses, usually at least a week, on average 2-4 weeks, longer if necessary.
