Areas of application

Laxofalk® is a laxative used for chronic constipation in adults.The drug treatment serves as a supplement to a diet that stimulates intestinal activity and an adapted lifestyle.Make sure your diet is high in fiber and drink plenty of fluids.Exercise also supports digestion.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Laxofalk® contains the active ingredient Macrogol 4000 (polyethylene glycol 4000) in an amount of 10 g per bag.Other ingredients include saccharin sodium, orange-grapefruit flavor, sorbitol and sulfur dioxide.

Contraindications

Laxofalk® must not be taken if you have abdominal pain of unknown origin, certain diseases of the digestive tract such as intestinal stricture, intestinal obstruction, intestinal perforation, chronic inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, toxic megacolon and if you are known to be hypersensitive to macrogols or one of the other ingredients.In patients with water and electrolyte imbalances, it should only be used on medical advice.

Dosage and application

The recommended dosage is 1 sachet 1 to 2 times daily.Dissolve the contents of one sachet in a glass of water (approx. 125 ml) and drink the liquid as soon as possible.When taking other medicines, they should be taken at least 2 hours apart.Laxofalk® should not be taken for longer than 4 weeks unless directed by your doctor.

Side effects

Feelings of fullness, flatulence, passing of intestinal gas, abdominal pain, nausea and diarrhea can often occur.Occasionally, vomiting, involuntary passage of stools, painful urge to defecate, pain in the upper abdomen, irritable stomach, headache and dizziness may occur.Very rarely, hypersensitivity reactions such as hives, itching, spasms of the bronchial muscles, skin rash and Quincke's edema may occur.
