Olynth 0.1% runny nose solution is a nasal remedy that is used to reduce the swelling of the nasal mucosa in various forms of runny nose.The active ingredient xylometazoline hydrochloride narrows the blood vessels in the nasal mucosa, causing it to swell and making breathing easier.The product is suitable for school children and adults and can also be used to help with sinus infections and middle ear infections.

Areas of application

Olynth 0.1% runny nose solution is used to treat runny nose, paroxysmal runny nose and allergic runny nose.It also helps to facilitate the drainage of secretions in cases of inflammation of the paranasal sinuses and middle ear infections.The product is intended for school children and adults.

Mode of action

The active ingredient xylometazoline hydrochloride in Olynth 0.1% cold solution narrows the blood vessels in the nasal mucosa.This leads to a decrease in the swelling of the mucous membrane and makes breathing through the nose easier.The effect occurs after just a few minutes and can last up to 12 hours.

Ingredients

The active ingredient in Olynth 0.1% cold solution is xylometazoline hydrochloride.Each milliliter of the solution contains 1 mg of xylometazoline hydrochloride.The other ingredients are benzalkonium chloride solution, sodium edetate, sodium chloride, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium monohydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sorbitol solution 70% and purified water.

Application

Olynth 0.1% cold solution is used nasally.Before use, the nose should be cleaned by blowing your nose vigorously.The recommended dose is 1 to 2 drops in each nostril up to 3 times daily.The head should be tilted back slightly during application and the pipette should be wiped after each application.

Dosage

For school children and adults, the recommended dose is 1 to 2 drops in each nostril up to 3 times a day.It should not be used for longer than 7 days without medical advice.Reapplication should only be carried out after a break of several days.For children, the duration of use should always be discussed with a doctor.

Contraindications

Olynth 0.1% cold solution must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients, in children under 6 years of age, in cases of drying of the nasal mucosa with crust formation, after brain surgery, in cardiovascular diseases such as high blood pressure and coronary heart disease, in pheochromocytoma, prostate enlargement, porphyria, metabolic diseases such as diabetes mellitus and hyperthyroidism, as well as in angle-closure glaucoma.

Side effects

Possible side effects include nasal irritation such as burning, sneezing, nasal congestion, nosebleeds, rash, itching, angioneurotic edema, high blood pressure, increased pulse rate and palpitations.If side effects occur, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted.

Storage

Olynth 0.1% cold solution should be stored at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C and protected from heat.Once opened, the solution has a shelf life of 12 weeks and should be stored at room temperature.Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away your medicine.

No prescription is required for this product.Please note that long-term use of mucous membrane decongestant cold medicines can lead to chronic swelling and ultimately loss of the nasal mucosa.Long-term use, especially in children, should be avoided.Higher dosages may only be used under medical supervision.
