Hermes Biotin 5 mg is a vitamin preparation that is used to prevent and treat biotin deficiency.Biotin, also known as vitamin B7 or vitamin H, is a water-soluble vitamin and part of the vitamin B complex.It is particularly needed for the functioning of metabolism, nerves, digestion and the cardiovascular system.

Areas of application

Hermes Biotin 5 mg is used to prevent and treat biotin deficiency.For prevention, less than 0.2 mg of biotin per day is sufficient.It is also used to treat biotin deficiency in the very rare biotin-dependent multiple carboxylase deficiency.

Dosage and application

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

The recommended dose is 1/2 to 1 tablet of Hermes Biotin 5 mg daily (equivalent to 2.5 mg to 5 mg biotin).For prophylaxis, less than 0.2 mg of biotin per day is sufficient.To treat multiple carboxylase deficiency, take 1 to 2 Hermes Biotin 5 mg tablets daily (equivalent to 5 mg to 10 mg biotin).For lower dosages, preparations with a lower biotin content are available.

Take the tablets whole with sufficient liquid, preferably a glass of water (200 ml).The tablet can be divided into two equal doses.

The duration of use depends on the normalization of biotin levels in the blood and the course of the underlying disease.Please consult your doctor about this.In the very rare case of biotin-dependent, multiple carboxylase deficiency, it is taken for life.

Composition

The active ingredient is biotin.Each tablet contains 5 mg of biotin.The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, cellulose powder, crospovidone (type A), highly dispersed silicon dioxide and magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.) [pflanzlich].

Contraindications

Must not be taken if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to biotin or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.

Side effects

Possible undesirable effects may include allergic skin hypersensitivity (allergic dermatitis).If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.You must not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and blisters.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.Store the medicine in the original packaging to protect the contents from moisture.

Do not dispose of medicines in wastewater.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.In doing so, you contribute to protecting the environment.

Notes

Contains lactose.If you have an intolerance to lactose, you should take this into account.If you have to follow a diabetes diet, you should consider the sugar content.

There are no known impairments to the ability to drive or use machines.

Deficiency symptoms do not normally occur in humans.However, consuming very large amounts of raw egg whites can cause a vitamin H deficiency.In the case of a hereditary defect, multiple carboxylase deficiency, the need for vitamin H is increased.A pronounced deficiency is evident in the skin and appendages and also results in certain psychiatric signs and gastrointestinal disorders.
