Instructions for use for KOMPENSAN Tablets 340 mg, 50 pcs
Area of application
Kompensan is a gastrointestinal agent and is one of the antacids that bind stomach acid.It is used to treat symptoms of heartburn, acid-related stomach problems, and stomach and duodenal ulcers in adolescents aged 12 and over and adults. No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients
Kompensan contains 340 mg carbaldrate and 300 mg aluminum sodium carbonate dihydroxide as active ingredients. The excipients include sodium alginate, magnesium stearate, sucrose, peppermint flavor, spearmint flavor and gelatin. One tablet contains approximately 0.636 g of sucrose, which corresponds to approximately 0.05 bread units (BE).
Contraindications
Kompensan must not be taken if you are allergic to carbaldrate, peppermint flavor or any of the other ingredients. Its use is also contraindicated in cases of significant impairment of kidney function, low phosphate levels in the blood, constipation and narrowing of the intestines.Children under 12 years of age should not use the medicine as there is insufficient experience.
Dosage
Adolescents 12 years and older and adults should take 1 to 2 tablets between meals, at bedtime, or as needed. The maximum daily dose is 8 tablets, although no more than 2 tablets should be taken per single dose. The tablets should be sucked and not swallowed.Other medicines should generally be taken two hours before or after taking Kompensan.
Intake
The tablets should be sucked slowly or allowed to dissolve in the mouth.Kompensan should preferably be taken 1 to 2 hours after meals and at night.Treatment should be continued until the desired relief of symptoms occurs. If symptoms persist after 2 weeks, you should see a doctor.
Patient information
Particular caution is required in cases of impaired kidney function and long-term use of high doses.Long-lasting stomach problems can indicate a serious illness and should be checked by a doctor. If tarry stools, blood in the stool or vomiting of blood occur, see a doctor immediately.Regular checks of the aluminum mirrors are necessary for long-term use.
Pregnancy
During pregnancy, Kompensan should only be used for a short time to avoid exposing the child to aluminum.Aluminum compounds pass into breast milk, but there is no risk to the newborn.A doctor or pharmacist should always be consulted before taking.
Notes
For information about risks and side effects, read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacist.Stomach problems that persist for a long time should be checked by a doctor.Long-term use of high doses and a low-phosphate diet can lead to phosphate depletion with the risk of bone softening.
Other
If you have stomach or intestinal ulcers, testing for Helicobacter pylori should be considered. An interval of two hours should be maintained between taking acid-binding stomach medications and other medications. In the case of chronic kidney dysfunction, regular checks of aluminum blood levels and semi-annual medical examinations are recommended.
