What is Cetirizine STADA® and what is it used for?
Cetirizine STADA® is an anti-allergic drug with the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride.It is used to relieve nasal and eye symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, as well as to relieve chronic hives (chronic idiopathic urticaria).Cetirizine STADA® is suitable for adults and children aged 2 years and over.No prescription is required for this product.
How should Cetirizine STADA® be taken?
Cetirizine STADA® should always be taken exactly as directed.Use the included measuring spoon for dosage.The recommended dose for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age is 10 mg once daily as a 10 ml solution, equivalent to two full scoops.Children between 6 and 12 years of age should take 5 mg twice daily as a 5 ml solution, equivalent to a full scoop.Children between 2 and 6 years of age receive 2.5 mg twice daily as a 2.5 ml solution, which is half a scoop.Patients with moderate to severe kidney failure are recommended to take 5 mg once daily.
Type of application
The juice should preferably be taken in the evening and can be consumed with or without food.
Duration of application
The duration of treatment depends on the type, duration and course of the symptoms.If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Overdose
If you suspect an overdose, you should contact a doctor immediately.Possible signs of overdose include confusion, dizziness, tiredness, headache, restlessness, sedation, sleepiness, tremor, drowsiness, diarrhea, malaise, dilated pupils, itching, rapid heartbeat and urinary retention.
Forgot to take it
Do not take a double dose if you forget to take a dose.Simply continue taking it at the next prescribed time.
Discontinuation of the intake
If you stop taking it, in rare cases pruritus (intense itching) and/or urticaria (hives) may reoccur.Talk to your doctor before you stop taking it yourself.
Storage
Keep Cetirizine STADA® out of the reach and reach of children.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton and label.After first opening, the medicine has a shelf life of three months.No special storage conditions are required.Do not dispose of medicines in wastewater.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.
Composition
The active ingredient is cetirizine dihydrochloride.10 ml of oral solution contains 10 mg of cetirizine dihydrochloride.The other ingredients are acetic acid 99%, glycerol, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (Ph.Eur.), sodium acetate trihydrate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (Ph.Eur.), propylene glycol, saccharin sodium, sorbitol solution 70% (non-crystallizing) (Ph.Eur.), purified water and banana aroma.
Contraindications
Cetirizine STADA® must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of the preparation.The medicine should also not be used if you have severe kidney disease or are undergoing dialysis (blood washing).
Side effects
Possible side effects include gastrointestinal complaints, headaches, dizziness, tiredness, sleepiness, restlessness and dry mouth.If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Special Notes
Caution is advised if you are allergic to the sweetener saccharin (E number E 954).Parabens (preservatives e.g. E 214 - E 219) can cause hypersensitivity reactions.If you have an intolerance to fructose (fruit sugar), the sugar content should be taken into account.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Taking Cetirizine STADA® should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding.Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant.During breastfeeding, the active ingredient cetirizine passes into breast milk.
Ability to drive and use machines
In clinical studies, cetirizine at the recommended dose did not produce any signs of impaired attention or driving ability.However, if you intend to drive, work without a secure footing or operate machines, you should not use more than the recommended dose.Monitor your reaction to the medicine carefully.
