Otriven® against colds 0.1% single dose pipettes clears the nose after just 2 minutes and not only works quickly, but also has a long-lasting effect.The proven active ingredient xylometazoline reduces the swelling of the nasal mucosa.This product has been a reliable companion for colds and allergic rhinitis for 60 years and can also be used to facilitate the drainage of secretions in cases of sinusitis.

The hygienic “disposable format” (one pipette per use) is particularly handy and practical for on the go.It also contains no preservatives.One pipette contains 0.3 ml of solution and is suitable for adults and children aged 12 and over.For younger children, Otriven® is also available in a lower-dose version.

Good to know: Otriven® against colds 0.1% single dose pipettes is also available in other dosage forms, such as nasal spray or nasal drops.

Duration of a cold

Most people are plagued by a cold once or several times a year.A cold usually lasts for 1 week, but the symptom of a stuffy nose only lasts about 5 days.Otriven® against colds 0.1% single dose pipettes without preservatives contains the proven active ingredient xylometazoline and can be used for up to 7 days.

Mode of action

The active ingredient xylometazoline hydrochloride contained in Otriven® against colds 0.1% single-dose pipettes has vasoconstricting properties by constricting the veins of the mucous membrane.This reduces the excessive blood flow to the nose, causing the mucous membrane to swell.

1 ml solution of Otriven® against colds 0.1% single dose pipettes contains: 1 mg xylometazoline hydrochloride.

Other components of Otriven® against colds 0.1% single dose pipettes: Purified water;sorbitol;sodium chloride;sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate;disodium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate;Sodium edetate.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the above ingredients, this product should not be used.

Dosage

Otriven® against colds 0.1% single dose pipettes are intended for use in adults and children aged 12 and over.As needed, 2-4 drops are introduced into each nostril up to 3 times a day.

Here's how it works: Blow your nose before use.Remove a pipette from the strip of 10 and open it by twisting off the short wing.Take the pipette between your thumb and forefinger and tap it downwards.This causes the dosing chamber to fill.Insert the pipette neck into the nostril.Drip drops into the nose by squeezing the pipette body with the head tilted back.Repeat the process for the other nostril.If any amount remains in the pipette, it should no longer be used.The single-dose pipettes should not be used for longer than 7 days.

Intake

For nasal use.Do not drip into eyes.

1. Blow your nose thoroughly before use.

2. Separate a pipette from the strip and open it by twisting off the short wing.Take the pipette between your thumb and forefinger and tap it downwards.This causes the dosing chamber to fill.

3. Laying your head back or lying on your back, turn your head to the side.

4. Instill drops into each nostril by squeezing the pipette body and leave to act briefly.

If any amount remains in the pipette, it should no longer be used.

The last application of the day should, if possible, be before going to bed.

For hygienic reasons and to avoid infections, please note that each dosage unit may only be used by one patient at a time.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Pregnancy: The medicine should not be used during pregnancy.

Breast-feeding: It is not known whether xylometazoline is excreted in breast milk.The medicine should not be used during breastfeeding.
