Directions for use of the article ben-u-ron 500 mg capsules - In case of pain or fever, do not use for longer than prescribed in the package leaflet without medical advice! - ben-u-ron® 500 mg hard capsules. Active substance: paracetamol. However, to achieve the best possible treatment success, ben-u-ron must be taken as prescribed. - Keep this leaflet for future reference. This leaflet contains: 1. what is ben-u-ron and what is it used for? 2. what you must be aware of before taking ben-u-ron? 3. how should ben-u-ron be taken? 4. what are the possible side effects? 5. how should ben-u-ron be stored? 6. further information 1. what is ben-u-ron and what is it used for? 1.1 ben-u-ron is an analgesic and antipyretic medicine. 1.2 ben-u-ron is taken for the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain and/or fever. 2. what do you need to know before taking ben-u-ron? 2.1 ben-u-ron must not be taken if you or your child are hypersensitive (allergic) to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients of ben-u-ron. 2.2 Special caution is required when taking ben-u-ron if you or your child are chronically alcoholic, suffer from impaired liver function, have pre-damaged kidneys or have diseases that may be associated with reduced glutathione levels. In these cases, only take ben-u-ron after consulting your doctor. If symptoms persist or if you have a high fever, you or your child should consult a doctor. Habitual use of painkillers can cause kidney damage. Do not use ben-u-ron for a long time or in higher doses without medical or dental advice. 2.3 When taking ben-u-ron with other medicines, tell your doctor or pharmacist about other medicines you or your child are taking. Special care should be taken when taking probenecid, phenobarbital, phenytoin, carbamazepine, rifampicin, cholestyramine, zidovudine and metoclopramide or domperidone as interactions may occur. Taking ben-u-ron may affect laboratory tests. 2.4 Ben-u-ron should not be taken together with alcohol. 2.5 During pregnancy and breast-feeding, you should ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking ben-u-ron. 2.6 Ben-u-ron does not affect your ability to drive or use machinery. How should ben-u-ron be taken? The dosage depends on body weight and age. Children from 11-12 years of age with a body weight of 33-43 kg take 1 capsule 1-4 times daily at intervals of 6 hours. Adolescents from 12 years and adults over 43 kg body weight take 1-2 capsules 1-4 times daily at intervals of 6 hours. The total dose should not be exceeded. The capsule is taken unchewed with plenty of liquid. Ben-u-ron should not be taken for longer than 3 days without medical advice. Dose adjustment is necessary in certain patient groups. In the event of an overdose of ben-u-ron, symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, paleness and abdominal pain are possible. In case of accidental overdose, a doctor should be consulted immediately. 4. What side effects are possible? Side effects of ben-u-ron may include slight increases in certain liver enzymes, allergic reactions, changes in the blood count or severe skin reactions. If side effects occur, contact a doctor or pharmacist. 5. how should ben-u-ron be kept? The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be used after the stated expiry date. 6. further information ben-u-ron contains the active substance paracetamol and is available in packs of 10 and 20 hard capsules.
