Instructions for use for Lösferron effervescent tablets, 50 pcs
Area of application
This preparation is used to treat anemia, more specifically iron deficiency anemia. It contains doubly positively charged iron as an active ingredient. It is used in cases of proven iron deficiency, which can be caused by various causes. These include increased iron loss, for example during heavy menstrual bleeding, after operations or blood donations, as well as bleeding in the digestive tract.Reduced iron absorption, for example after parts of the stomach or intestine have been removed, can also be a reason for taking it.In addition, an increased need for iron, such as occurs during pregnancy, may require use.No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients
The preparation contains 695 mg iron (II) gluconate dihydrate, which corresponds to a content of 80.5 mg iron (II) ions. The excipients included are ascorbic acid, anhydrous citric acid, sodium carbonate, sodium cyclamate, sodium hydrogen carbonate, saccharin sodium salt, tartaric acid, orange flavor, vanillin, sorbitol and benzyl alcohol. In addition, 9.5 mmol total sodium ions and 220 mg sodium ions are present as excipients.
Contraindications
This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to ferrous gluconate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Its use is also contraindicated in cases of iron utilization disorders such as sideroachrestic anemia, lead anemia, thalassemia or porphyria cutanea tarda. The product must also not be used if the body is overloaded with iron, such as hemochromatosis or hemolytic anemia. The medicine is not suitable for infants and children weighing less than 16 kg.
Dosage
Always take this medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.Adults usually take one effervescent tablet daily. For more severe anemia, it can also be two to three effervescent tablets per day.Children and adolescents weighing 16 kg or more take one effervescent tablet daily. The daily dose for children is 3 to 5 mg of iron (II) ions per kilogram of body weight. The duration of use is determined by the doctor. In principle, long-term iron therapy is necessary to achieve therapeutic success in iron deficiency anemia. This usually requires an application period of at least eight weeks.
Intake
The effervescent tablet is intended to be taken after dissolving it in half a glass to a glass of water.Take the medicine half an hour to an hour before meals. If necessary, the effervescent tablet can also be dissolved in fruit juice containing vitamin C.In the case of gastrointestinal disorders, we recommend reducing the individual doses or taking the effervescent tablets with meals rich in meat and containing vitamin C.In children, the solution can be mixed with food to improve tolerance.
Patient information
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product. In the case of pre-existing inflammation or ulcers of the gastrointestinal mucosa, the benefits of treatment should be carefully weighed against the risk of worsening the gastrointestinal disease.Taking liquid iron supplements can cause tooth discoloration, which can be removed by intensively cleaning your teeth. In such cases, you should only take the drinking solution through a drinking straw.During the treatment, the stool may turn harmless black and the laundry may discolor accordingly. The medicine is not suitable for children weighing less than 16 kg.So far there is no evidence that the medicine impairs the ability to actively drive or operate machines.
Pregnancy
If the prescribed dosage is followed, there are no concerns about taking it during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Notes
Not all forms of anemia require iron intake. In certain forms, taking additional iron medication can even be detrimental. In rare cases, the teeth can become discolored when taking liquid iron medication, which can be avoided by intensively cleaning the teeth and/or by using a drinking straw or by drinking plenty of fluids. When taking iron, the stool usually turns black and is harmless.Iron can cause constipation. The doctor should check your blood values approximately every 4 weeks.
